It was, unfortunately, the exact opposite of the Calgary-Edmonton series, in which Markstrom looked like a goof because his teammates hung him out to dry.

Markstrom played like a good himself. Has to be one of the all time worst Flames goaltending performances in a playoff series.

Any goalie will look like a goof when the skaters in front of him are bowing and scraping and saying, ‘After you, Mr. McDavid, sir. Be my guest, Mr. Draisaitl, sir.’

I'm not saying Markstrom played well in that series. He didn't. But he got no help from his teammates.

As I've said before, they seemed to be so afraid of giving the Oilers power plays, they let them play the whole series like they were on the power play. Which made no sense, but that happens when you psych yourself out.
