Draft start to finish in 31 hours, that has to be a new race record.

Oh no, Franca and Nella are from Edmonton, that's no good.

When the episode started airing, I was irrationally excited to have the race back. And I'm down a team already.

Lots of strong teams this season, we'll see if cottage boys have any brains soon enough. Presumably their parents are loaded, and they just wakeboard all day?

It was nice to have the Race back to watch. One of those comfort shows.

The sponsorships and product placement seemed to have been turned up a few notches, but whatever - they've got bills to pay so I'm not complaining, just observing.

It looks like they pass through Calgary en route to Lethbridge next week, based on the teaser. I always like seeing the local stuff.

I hope a Lethbridge task is out in a field, "gather this giant pile of papers together in order, without using anything to hold them down".

At least your other team looks like they'll be a strong one.

Yeah, I noticed they all had the energy drink's logo sewn on their backpacks (really effective too because I can't remember the name of the energy drink -- I'm sure I'll be sick of hearing it by the end), which took the sponsor-integration to a new level.

Although, they've always been pretty blatant with the product placements. I remember in one of the early seasons, DQ was a sponsor and I joked that I was looking forward to the "make a Blizzard" task -- then, they actually had a task where they went to DQ and made Blizzards.

Guru

Worked on me as I found myself intrigued an looked them up. Canadian made energy drink.

I'm OK with some of the product placement, they need to make their money and good to see Canadian products get showcased.

The ones that were a bit much were the debit card ones..."how would you like to pay? " "With my bla bla debit card"

Good thing for me that Jully Black had trouble with the singing challenge.

That was a fun watch. Nice to see the Race back. I'm impressed with my Betty & Veronica team, and not so much with my other. But, was a good watch!

Not sure on the tasks but a couple of friends of mine were involved in the Lethbridge area production including one of them being John Montgomery's driver. He has signed a NDA but did say where the "Mat" was and that there were many visitors/ spectators watching the Check In. The "race people" had originally reached out to our Curling Club back in 2019 about using the club for one of the challenges, of course Covid, delays etc... but those initial contacts back then were what got my friends involved in the 2022 production.

"Our uncle lives in Cal Gary."

This week, the teams fly to Calgary, but drive to Lethbridge for a lot of product placement. Court & Ali survive elimination in Waterton.

  1. Franca & Nella (win a trip to Lima, Peru, a $5,000 gift card for Marshalls and $5,000 and a year of footlongs from Subway)
  2. Jesse & Marika
  3. Beverley & Veronica
  4. Brendan & Connor
  5. Catherine & Craig
  6. Cedric & Tychon
  7. Dennis & Durrell
  8. Cassie & Jahmeek
  9. Court & Ali (non-elimination)
  10. Jully & Kathy

Next week, the teams cross the Continental Divide and head to Fernie.

The goat trick with duplicate numbers was a bit dirty, but fun. The rest of the challenges were pretty dull. Certainly not enough to bring them to tears after hours of suffering shoveling coal. Which is really what I'm here for.

It was nice to see the city I call home on a show for once, but they could’ve done more with the farms or not tried to make it seem as though Indian Battle Park is this massive place. Next time I want that mat on top of Bear’s Hump. Make them sweat that 30 min climb up the steps

The product placement and constant in show advertising is really bugging me. And the fact they were tying to make it look like Subway uses locally grown veggies is misleading. They bought all that produce at Superstore and staged two of the farms, this was filmed in April and you are not getting locally grown tomatoes like that anywhere in Lethbridge in April. And how did all the teams end up at the Native dance at the same time? I was excited to see Lethbridge as the main focus but really irritated at the editing, advertising and gaps in the timeline.

I think they must have neutralized the race until that scene. Have everyone drive down there together.

It also had me thinking about the logistics of some of the interviews. They do them at the challenge. I have to assume every team has a forced 5 minute stop or something to get these done during the race.

The product placement is really bad, but they do what they have to do give us the show.
