Thanks again for this, its these little things that make me want to buy one but I know how little it will be used and the space I don't have for it. So handy though.

Yeah I get that. I got mine on Black Friday 2019 for $189. It does not take up a ton of space but if you don't have a lot of free space I can see the issue.
I use mine a lot for my boardgames. I have a collection of about 150 games and for the ones that take a long time to setup or are a pain to put away I have printed off inserts which helps a ton. I think mine has paid for itself since professional inserts are between $25-50 each

Printed a Lithophane for my friends... They were amused. About 50cents in material, 6 hours to print for a 2" x 3" piece.
Essentially a b/w image where the software thickens the darks and thins the lights.

[googled image; not actually my friend]

How hard is it to just freehand something and print it out?

For context, my son loves to make "inventions" and standard craft supplies don't always quite cut it. Thinking this would be a fun way to harness his creativity. He's 5 so I'd help him, bit I'm also a newbie to this...

You need to create what you want in something like AutoCAD or sketch up then import that file into a 3D printing software like cura.
Some of these programs are pretty user friendly so it may work like that for him

Do you mean with something like this?

It would probably be similar to trying to draw something with a hot glue gun but slower since the filament is much thinner, but your product would be more rigid depending on the material chosen

Never thought to look for one on there. Pretty much the same process as the BL Touch?

I guess it must be since it's all chinese product anyways.

I bought a Prusa Mini+ a while ago and it was just delivered yesterday. Installed and calibrated in ~2 hours and now I've made a few successful prints. This is soooo cool.

I can't wait to try to build some models myself.

Got an Ender 3 Pro a week ago and within the week managed to destroy the print head the one time I didn't check on a print for a few hours. Replaced with a direct drive and also a CR touch, added a Raspberry Pi with Octoprint and a webcam and its been awesome since.

Well I just got an Ender 3 Pro to play around with. Purchased upgraded springs, capricorn tubing and bl-touch. Planning to pair it with a Raspberry Pi so hopefully I can figure this out! I will also be pretty exclusively printing in Pteg so any tips and tricks would be welcomed!

So I damaged my magnetic build plate pretty badly while trying to get everything set up. Which replacement mat would I purchase? They all seem to have a secondary magnetic strips to attach to the actual bed part. Is it possible just to get the mat portion or would any of the ones on amazon work and just snap into the existing infrastructure.

Talk to the guys at Spool3D, they'll know for sure and usually are decent on price.

In case any other noobs destroy their bed like me. I gambled and purchased this PEI bed off Amazon and it snapped right into place with the magnets and seems to be printing well. It is nice to not have to fight with the Petg to get it off the mat! https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
