Default Jason Fram?

Can we sign this guy when his WHL season is done? He seems to be a natural fit here. He attended our camp, is a right handed shot, and is one of the better defenders in the WHL. He put up 62 points in 70 games, 45 more than the next Dman on the team.

Would love to hear from some people that watched him at our camp.

He was pretty decent in camp. Arguably the best of the try-out kids.

I have looked into it and believe he is eligible for the 2015 draft much like Austin Carroll was eligible for the 2014 draft.

That being the case no one can sign him unless he gets passed over in the 2015 draft or a team drafts him.

Might be a case where they take him with a 7th rounder like Carroll last year, if he's still available.

Offensively, Fram was right there with the best of what the Flames had at the development camp. Defensively, he was a bit of an adventure at times. He might be the next Mark Cundari or he might figure out his own end of the rink.

Easier to teach defence or offence?

I would rather a guy with natural offensive flair who can learn from a good coach and defensive system...

Fram could be more found money like Jooris if we sign him after the draft...

When it comes to prospects with gaps in their game, who knows which guys will figure it out. For every Jooris, there are a dozen Ben Street's. The only good thing is that usually those guys are free or cost a late round draft pick to try and get them to figure out the holes in their game.

Fram is worth taking the shot with.

How big is he? I see him listed at 6'0 / 195 but wasn't he a bit on the smaller side next to Culkin et al?

yes, more 5-10 or so than 6-0, just like Gaudreau being listed at 5-9, when he's really 5-6.

I really dont like our chances of snagging him with a 7th. I'm sure hes been noticed. I liked him at camp. Either we draft him in the mid-rounds or we dont get him. 65pts in 70 games for a dman in the whl sounds pretty good..

There's no doubt he's been noticed, but at this point he's a slightly poor man's Kulak/Culkin who has already been passed over in two drafts.

The Flames have a good chance of snagging him as a seventh rounder, similar to the John Gilmour pick, when Sutter signed Ryan Wilson without using a pick, or Winnipeg snagging high scoring defender Brandon Kichton in 2013 as a seventh rounder.
