the Flames passed on a player on his 4th team in 4 years, not qualified, PTO, cleared waivers 2 months ago
obviously they don't know what they are doing unlike the other 31 teams

If you're going to blame anyone for the Flames not signing Milano, blame Milano. You can't be invisible during a try out and expect a contract. It's working out for him in Washington, good for him.
Imagine if he did nothing during a tryout, got a contract from Treliving, and then proceeded to continue to do nothing during the season. That's a good reason for critiquing the GM, not for declining to offer a contract when the player didn't deserve it as a walk on.

even the Caps only signed him when they had injuries and needed a warm body, they put him in the AHL so he went trough waivers that the whole league past on

I also don't think he would be any more useful than any of the middle 6 wingers we already have even if he was producing here like he is in Washington. It would also mean that Pelletier would not be called up.
No doubt that this team could use a winger to improve the top 6, but I don't think Milano would move the needle in that regard.
I was in favour of signing him out of camp with the idea that he would start with the Wranglers, exactly like what Washington did. Not a big loss in the big picture, but if he did find his game here, it would have given us a tradable asset I suppose.

He was getting absolutely trashed on here in the preseason, probably the same posters that are trashing the Flames now for not signing him

Again no one saw him in camp it was closed. We can only judge him by his small sample size in the preseason.
He was on the 4th and 3rd lines. Hard to judge him by that

We dodged a bullet as fans, if Milano had a good camp and been given this contract by the Flames I’m confident we would not like it now and hate it in 3 years.

Exactly, he’s just be taking up a kids spot here. Every other team had the chance to claim him on waivers when he was signed by Washington as well.

He was very bad and didn’t look like he was particularly trying all that hard either

Happy for him, still not upset at it at all. It was a shame he looked worse than Rooney in the pre-season but at least we don't have either of them in the lineup so whatever, I'd rather see Pelletier anyway

The Flames are already way overloaded with middle/bottom 6 forwards. He would just be another contract here IMO.

1 point and -5 in his last 5 games
Yeah, this guy is really making the Flames look stupid
Between ruzicka and Pelletier (alternating in & out) we've probably found better than a Milano in our ranks

But the issue is, he did earn a contract based on his performance in 2021–22, which matters a heck of a lot more than some exhibition games. Particularly when the Flames made an inexplicable $2.6 million commitment to a substantially worse player in Kevin Rooney, who is now their AHL third-line centre.

This is still the most confusing, especially with Ruzicka having to stay up and the Ben Jones signing

now that I think of it seems like a lot of term and $$$ for a guy that couldn't get a contract a couple months back

Now we get to see how well Milano does without the incentive of earning another NHL contract. My bet is that they regret that contract much sooner than later.

Whoever scouted Rooney and convinced Tre he was worth signing to that contract on day 1 of free agency needs to be shown the door. They are a part of the problem here
I do have a feeling that was a Bradley special though

A GM in Western Canada was the organizational book on a 4th line forward playing in New York?
Seems unlikely to me.
He was a depth add that wouldn't be too much of a cap hit if assigned to the farm. Not really a reason to show anyone the door without knowing what other moves and additions said person was involved with.
We should ban the term "fireable offence" on the site, always comes across as a petulant fan to me.
