Article from the Washington Post on China's weather balloon.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...balloons-work/

Quote:
Experts in national security and aerospace said the craft appears to share characteristics with high-altitude balloons used by developed countries around the world for weather forecasting, telecommunications and scientific research.
Quote:
In a briefing Thursday, a senior defense official declined to discuss what the Pentagon knows about the technology onboard the Chinese balloon, but said the payload wouldn’t offer much in the way of surveillance that China couldn’t collect through spy satellites.
For me, with everything we know, which is that China had a visit from the US Secretary of State planned for the next day, China's public statements that they want to work with the US and de-escalate, the US saying they've been tracking the balloon for a while now but choosing to announce on the eve of Blinken's visit but not earlier, indicates for whatever reason, the US changed their mind about de-escalation of the tensions between the two countries, which sucks for the world.

Maybe they can let the balloon participate in Super Bowl activities though!

They've gotta have a super low opinion of the intelligence of their population if they think the BS 'Weather Balloon' cop-out is going to work...again.

The people know about the conspiracy! They're not falling for those shenanigans again!

We know its Aliens!!

The whole trip over US is a red herring, they were looking at real estate in Vancouver.

China seems awfully pissed off over a weather balloon

Quote:
China responded that it reserved the right to “take further actions” and criticized the U.S. for “an obvious overreaction and a serious violation of international practice.”

In its statement Sunday, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “China will resolutely uphold the relevant company’s legitimate rights and interests, and at the same time reserving the right to take further actions in response.”

I wonder why they used an f 22. It’s possible that the balloon had signal recording devices and gained valuable data on the f22’s rcs

In other news, the National Weather Service announces that they've outsourced some of their weather pattern data collection services to a Chinese company, but due to some unforeseen circumstances weather analytics data related to the Atlantic Seaboard are temporarily delayed.

More news at 11.

Our house was shaking with a bunch of military helicopters flying over in that direction a couple hours before this happened. I guess they're making a pretty large effort to recover it.

"Alright Frank, your mission today is to get to 60,000 feet in your F22 and use a preposterously expensive Sidewinder missile to take down a large, incredibly dangerous, slow-moving, very deadly, mostly inflated object."

"Uh...is that a wicker basket hanging underneath the target?"

"Fox Two! FIRE!"

It’s the only thing they have capable of getting up that high.

If it was just an innocent weather balloon, the proper thing to do would have been to alert Canada and the U.S. that it went astray and that it was about to enter our airspaces.

Doubt that, the Chinese/Russia already have stolen the tech for stealth from the Raptor

They couldn’t have been all that concerned. They let it fly all the way across the country before they shot it down. If that was a concerning aircraft it would’ve been taken down before it was in the media at all.
