34 is where the list is up to right now. They release one per day, 6 days a week until February. I can't see any other Flames making the list... much to the chagrin of Theoren Fleury.

Iggy not in the top 100 was crazy
penalized because he played for the Flames...lot of Oilers in the old boys club and maybe even some racism from the old timers (how else can you explain it?)

Thank god Nieuwendyk did the honorable thing for the city and alumni

Exceptional player, but can we agree his dome looks like he has been crossed with a Beluga whale ?

Sakic and Yzerman have to be in the top ten.

It was such a stupid event where they show-horned in the Blackhawks guys like Duncan Keith and Jonathon Toews. Hell even Kane didn’t deserve to be on that list yet.

Take those three off and add Iggy, Thornton and Malkin

Lafontaine on there is absurd (not that he's not great)

Bergeron > Toews

Goalies are tough, but I'm not sure Parent and Fuhr and maybe even Billy Smith are really distinguished from guys like Price/Lundqvist/Kipper/Vernon/Belfour/Hextall

The list has 14 goalies...they maybe should've done top 100 skaters and top 20 goalies.

correct.

i was pretty pumped to do the embroidery on iggy's rink jacket!
i sooooooo wanted to put a note in the pocket - but i didn't.

i also wanted to put a "go flames go!" note in smitty's ball cap for kelowna minor baseball - but didn't. from what i know about smith, he would have had a good chuckle if i did.

Jarome Iginla is very much one of the 100 best players this league and its fans have ever seen.

That "NHL 100" selection committee needed to be dragged out into the middle of the street and had the stuffing slapped out of them.

Some chuckles in the follow-up interview as well. What a gem this man is.

I thought the NHL’s top 100 players list done a few years ago went back 100 years. And, given Iginla was generally considered the best overall hockey player in the world for a couple of years in the early 2000’s, simple arithmetic would have made him an automatic selection to that list. That he wasn’t included was monumental stupidity on the part of the selection committee.

Correct. he was just ranked 34th (I guess maybe 35th because I think the story is Gretzky is 1 and they are ranking 99 before him- maybe I missed that) of the last 55 years but not top 100 of the 100 years...means there should have been 65 pre expansion players on that top 100 list (narrator...there were not)

I wonder where he would place on a list of the best players to never win a cup. That would be kind of an interesting list to see and reflect on those careers.
