When does training camp start, ie, when do we know what the starting roster will be?

Cavalry are holding a training camp in Red Deer. Just an excuse to hold some training sessions and have local kids watch and to hold some skills clinics.

Well, it’s the same as last year with basically only a couple possible changes. Particularly offensively. Maybe I’m too pessimistic, but the lack of ambition isn’t particularly inspiring.

I try to be positive, but they've lost they're most talented players in the last two seasons.

Yao, Peple, Farsi, and so far as I can tell they've yet to replace them.

I mean I have my tickets and I'm excited about going, so it's not like I'm not continuing to support the club and spend money. I'm just not too optimistic about the chances on the field this season.

But to be completely honest, what I know about running a soccer club might fill a thimble. I just want us to crest that final peak and win it all!

You're right, I love going, and will support them to the end, but it might be a rough year.

I mean, the roster isn't finalized yet, so complaining about who's signed is premature. I'll wait until opening game before doing that.

Also people have to realize that this league will always see the best players move on. This league doesn't pay the players that well, and growth in that regard is going to be slow while they get the number of people paying for tickets that they do.

Yao was not under contract with Cavalry, he was loaned out in order to get minutes. Pepple only signed with Cavalry because they would allow him to trial with Forest Green Rovers while playing. Farsi took a risk to sign with an MLS reserve club and it paid off massively. At least for the latter two they wouldn't have had a pro career were it not for Cavalry. That's something to be celebrated IMO.

Now, I think that selling your best players in the middle of the season sends a poor message to supporters if you aren't replacing them. And last year they didn't replace Pepple or Loturi and the end result was another knock out at the hands of Forge.

I had to look up who TSS Rovers were. Their website lists them as TSS FC Rovers, so Total Soccer Systems Football Club Rovers. What a ####ty name.

Ship and Anchor is doing the Ship Up Ship Out thing all year for home games. Same situation as last year. As we've moved the supporters pub from Rose & Crown to Ship and Anchor there will be an option for just transport as well, since that will be most of us.

Don't remember all the details myself but I believe we have 2 busses for every game and the Ship has committed to showing all away games.

More details to come Saturday at our supporters event at the Ship from the guy who has actually been discussing with the pub.

I figured this was imminent as he followed the Foot Soldiers Instagram yesterday. Cavalry need CBs and Montgomery needs to play regular first team football so this seems like a good match to me.

Fourth overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by Dallas. Cool! Coming straight from MLS (Minnesota United). He spent most of that time on loan to the USL, but he was also part of the U-23 CMNT.

I like this signing a lot! He'll be highly motivated to perform to set himself up for a move back to a higher level.

From what I've heard he's got all the tools to be an excellent player

Not bad, not good. We're spoiled with the character that comes with repurposing a venue created for a different purpose (like the Portland Timbers stadium pre-renos). Throwing some roofs over the stands would make a big difference.
