Also, someone needs to explain to me why Hickey has 13 votes in this poll, but I don't think I've seen Morrison get a single one yet in any of these polls. Yet if you look at both players they are very comparable. Can anyone tell me why everyone is so high on Hickey but Morrison isn't in the same conversation?

Hickey played top 4 minutes and PP time as an 18 year old on a championship finalist NCAA div 1 team. Kenny did no such thing

Yep pretty much this. Hickey is only 19 and already has a better resume than Morrison who is 23. Of course, Morrison was never drafted so he is obviously a later bloomer. I do think that they are closer than people think.

For me it's mostly just familiarity. Knowing Hickey was a Flames' prospect I've made a point of watching every BU game I could this season, and I've really liked what I've seen from him. Great skating, good hard shot, good offensive instincts and decision making and still solid in his own end. Very similar player to Brodie but with a better shot and a bit more physicality, although I wouldn't consider it a strength of his.

Morrison on the other hand I just have scouting reports and articles to base it on. Those all seem very favorable, but it's different than seeing a guy first hand in game situations. Morrison could easily be this year's Jooris where he's ranked lower than he likely should be just because we don't know yet what we have in him.

If it wasn't for the 2-way in Ortio's contract I believe he would have won the starting job last year. Pretty disappointing when Ramo was give a contract.

I'm surprised how appreciated Ortio is here at CP, i can't see it staying that way for much longer

Or I'm completely over rating him and CP is bang on and I'm out to lunch

Lots of options for me here. Like Hickey, Ortio, Grandlund, Kylington, Andersson.

I doubt very much that Ortio would clear waivers to be sent down to Stockton - that's why I think it very likely that the Flames deal Hiller before the season the starts and they run with a Ramo/Ortio combo this year.

My top 6 was/is:
Bennett
Ferland
Ortio
Porier
Gillies
Granlund

With that being said, Ortio this round, Granlund next, then I'll probably start knocking off the Dmen.

I think everyone underestimates Klimchuk.

Agree, first rounder in a deep draft who has improved since being drafted.

Not flashy but a decent two way guy who puts up points and makes those around him better.

And when given the opportunity has performed well on the international stage (second on team scoring in both the U-17, and U-18 tourneys he was able to play at).

I continue to wait for Klimchuk to show me a reason to get more excited about him as a prospect. Still waiting.

Edit: not saying he's crap, just haven't seen enough to justify bumping him up into the top 10 or 12

How can you call 2013 a deep draft? 2 full seasons and 1 player from the second round has played in the NHL. In 2015 the Flames were able to pick up a sure fire top 2 D-man at the end of the 2nd round.

I looked at the RGI for players in that draft and it was off the charts
