The Swiss are headed for a minor upset versus the Czechs.

Help, save, whatever.

I like the black Canadian jerseys when they are shown up close but from far away they look like crap.

Agreed, on the regular broadcast view it is impossible for me to read the numbers or names.

Chinese goalie looks really hurt. Messed his knee up maybe? That sucks because he was having a decent game.

May have been discussed but just seeing this now regarding positive doping test for that Russian figure skating child.
Is that the play now? Loading up the children because they won't get banned if caught?
This is ridiculous. I wish I had not read about this.

So Gushue loses to ROC to drop to 5-3. however I think they are still in good shape.
For them to miss out, they would have to lose to GB and either Switzerland (3-4) have to win both their games or ROC and US (both at 4-4) have to win their remaining game.
Switzerland have China and Sweden left
ROC have GB left
USA have Denmark left
(2 out of 3 of these would have to happen)
Italy have been Canada's friend, beating both Switzerland and the US but nobody else.
We will know more after tonight's 11PM draw which Canada is idle.
But Gushue's team is just not playing well, confused by the stones and ice. They were gifted a steal in the first (should have given up 3 or 4) and still couldn't win the game.

They control their own destiny but a loss in their last game against GB could easily knock them out. They lose a tiebreaker with ROC and the Swiss if head to head. And I'll bet the 3 way tiebreakers don't look any better. Losing to ROC was bad.
But it's the Olympics so you need to win, can't scoreboard watch your way to a medal. Three wins a in a row against best teams in the world and they get gold.

Yes, but if Swiss and ROC lose tonight, Canada would be in before they even take the ice tomorrow
I think GB will crush ROC so go China!

For sure. Canada should have also crushed ROC.
It’s bizarre. Across the board the Canadian rinks level of play just not the same as if they were playing at home. Credit to these other teams who are no pushovers but all Canadian rinks just around .500.

Do you think it's because Canadian teams never leave home and don't play with international rocks and ice? All the major tournaments are here and the international teams come over to play them. But they also play in the events in Europe.

There might be something to that. I have to believe if the ROC rink for example plays at the Briar, they are getting beat by all the top teams.
There has to be something about the environment that is different. Because we sent over some battle tested teams, the moment shouldn’t be too big for them.
Not to talk like it’s over because both Jones and Gushue could still win this. It just doesn’t feel very likely to me at all.

I've haven't seen Gushue struggle like this forever. They're not my favourite team, but only seem to struggle when I'm cheering for them. I also do not think either the men or women had enough time in China pre event to get over the jet lag, time change, atmosphere etc... Also having spent so much time in quarantine prior to to Olympics definitely adds to the fatigue. I wouldn't put too much in their Olympic performances based on all that has gone on over the last two years; bubbles, lack of practice, lack of events etc...
The rest of the world has also caught up, kinda. We still have by far the deepest talent in the world but no longer the "best" talent. We could send any one of 5 different teams to the Olympic games and each would have the same odds to win it all, no other country could do this.
