Icon48 If the Playoffs started today V2 Mar 5th

so one month later, where do we sit?

Washington jumped up a few places and Tampa has dropped out in the East.

Eastern Conference

1. Detroit Red Wings vs 8. Florida Panthers
2. Carolina Hurricanes vs 7. Montreal Canadiens
3. Toronto Maple Leafs vs 6. Washington Capitals
4. New Jersey Devils vs 5. Philadelphia Flyers

No changes to the teams in the West, just shifting positions!

Western Conference

1. Dallas Stars vs 8. Columbus Blue Jackets
2. Chicago Blackhawks vs 7. LA Kings
3. San Jose Sharks vs 6. St Louis Blues
4. Calgary Flames vs 5.Minnesota Wild

Eastern Conference

1. Detroit Red Wings vs 8. Florida Panthers
2. Toronto Maple Leafs vs 7. Tampa Bay Lightning
3. Carolina Hurricanes vs 6. Philadelphia Flyers
4. New Jersey Devils vs 5. Montreal Canadiens

Washington and Pittsburgh sit just outside the race and are within 4 points of the final spot. 1-3 are all fighting for top spot in the east with only 4 points separating the top teams.
We can assume that Buffalo, Ottawa, Rangers and Islanders are out and should be dealing for futures.

Who do you like in the current match-ups?

Western Conference

1. Chicago Blackhawks vs 8. Minnesota Wild
2. St Louis Blues vs 7. LA Kings
3. San Jose Sharks vs 6. Columbus Blue Jackets
4. Calgary Flames vs 5. Dallas Stars

This Conference is mostly set in the top 8 with only the Coyotes possibly sneaking up to 8th if they get on a hot streak, but that streak better happen soon.

Canucks, Ducks, Oilers, Avs and Preds are on the outs and should be looking to next year if they havent yet.
7 points separate 1 through 7 in the West so a hot or cold streak can change the standings pretty quickly.

What do you think about the west match-ups?

Now is the time to decide, am I in, or am I out, what are your chances of moving up 2 or 3 spots or falling out of the race?
Trade deadline is not far away.

Nice to be in at this point but the Wings could be a quick series. That said, I think we've beaten them twice this year. At least we're not the pens tho.

Sharks make the playoffs every year but I can't remember the last time we went past the first round. If I were you, I would want to play me 2!

I suspect it is much more even than you think. There are definitely a couple teams that have my number.

Quick series for you! Not counting our massive winning streak the Wings are mediocre. At this point we are hoping to keep home ice advantage in the first round.

Should I be dealing for futures? Yes.

Am I dealing for futures? Also yes.

Tight race in the East. We sit 5th but know our spot in the post season isnt set in stone.

We've been looking at trade options a lot recently. Going through league rosters and trying to get a few options in the pocket. Would like to upgrade the backend and have a few AHL D prospects that could be used to make that move. We have also considered acquiring an expiring vet up front for playoff insurance. We had sent a few feelers but the options are limited due to cap constraints around the league. We have a few more ideas but are just waiting for more dominoes to fall

Wild have been steadily climbing up the west, and could secure home ice for the first round. That was way out of reach not too long ago.
