We are at the halfway point of the season, and the red snake has a 22-13-6 record. That puts it 2 points above the black line and 4 points below the purple snake. 46 points in the remaining 41 games are required to finish the season with 96 points. Doing the very complicated math, that is a record of 23-18-0 over the second half, or a 92 point pace.
The red snake dipped below the black line after game #36, but has been above the black line for the past 5 games.

The purple snake rests for game #42, but goes 8-0-1 in games 43-51. The red snake would have to win the next 12 games to pass the purple snake after game 52. It would need a record of 29-12-0 to finish the season with more points than the purple snake. 29-11-1 would tie it.

The 18-19 team was also winning with crazy comebacks and improbable ways.
This year's team is a whole different beast and outplaying the opposition in ways that team didn't typically do.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 18-19 season, but this team inspires a different confidence.

Tonight's win moves the Flames to 27-13-6 after 46 games, moving the red snake to 6.146 points above the black line, and remaining 2 points below the purple snake. The red snake has spent the last 10 games, and 42 of the past 43, above the black line. It is guaranteed at least 5 more games above the black line.
The red snake is on pace for 107 points on the season. A record of 18-18-0 (82 point season's pace) in the remaining 367 games would have it finish at 96 points. After some of the seasons we have watched, it's amazing that they can play .500 hockey over the last 36 games, and still hit 96 points.
