Gifted with a great shot, he is really good at reading the play and releases his shot when goalies are least expecting it. Another positive to his game is his great vision. He waits for teammates to get open and makes a solid pass across the seams for a high end scoring chance.

OHL Prospects @BrockOtten
In Rory Kerins, the Calgary Flames are getting a two-way center who also excels as a goal scorer in tight because he possesses good hands and a quick release. He battles hard for positioning and provides versatility to the Soo's coaching staff. #nhldraft2020

Kerins is basically James Hardie at centre. Like this.

Going to be interesting year in the OHL.

The Ontario minister of health announce today that the OHL cannot resume this season unless they eliminate body checks and fighting for Covid reasons.

Wonder what NHL teams would do if there is no OHL season or a no body check season.

Pretty sure guys breathe on eachother more during a faceoff than a hit... no faceoffs either? Pond hockey, start with the puck behind your net and alternate?

The NHL should consider going with the format some European leagues use where some of your prospects train all year with the team and get a handful of games.

This is an awesome pick and truly a steal. When I was projecting out the draft I had Kerins going to Pittsburgh at 170. I was shocked the Penguins picked Yoder. That seems like an incredible reach for them. I'm happy Kerins fell 4 spots to the Flames without Treliving having to give up any assets to move up in the round. Great work, Flames!

The nice thing about Kerins too is that his even strength production was very impressive. 26 of his 30 goals came at even strength, which was the highest percentage out of anyone in the OHL with at least 30 goals (unless I read the info wrong)
