I guess the rooms will be used by athletes arriving after them? Because I thought the beds were going to be recycled anyways.

Aussies haven't been able to get to Bali or Phuket for their regular international piss ups and are just making the most of the Olympic travel opportunity.

Sounds about right... in my travels Aussies are super fun to party with if you're in the mood, but they're never not in the mood haha. Such a loud, wild bunch.

It doesn't really surprise me at all, as a former competitor in the Australian University Games. We were hungover before all of our baseball games (but still won gold!). Sport and partying just go hand-in-hand for Aussies.

In contrast, in 2016 I was on a flight from Madrid to Beijing with about 100 Chinese athletes on their way home from the Rio Olympics. They were very well-behaved, subdued even, but maybe that's because it was a long flight. When we landed the airport was like Beatlemania. I think some of the athletes I was sitting next to on the plane turned out to be megastars in China.

Aussies think they can drink but consider 3.5% beer to be "mid-strength", while Canadians grew up on 5.5% beer.

I worked with some Aussies in Texas and they were total lightweights.

That sounds suspiciously like comparing alcohol by weight to alcohol by volume.

When I partied with Aussies in Thailand, they treated it like a sprint. Go hard early and tap out quick. The Canadians and Brits were more like a marathon. And then the one Scottish guy seemed to be in his own Forrest Gump run, I don't know if I ever saw him stop drinking over several days

The Irish travelers I met on Xmas Eve in Ecuador years ago were invincible. I had to tap out at 4:00 am. while they carried on.

Both pale in comparison to the Polish Military.

We had some attached to us overseas. They would drive dump trucks from 8am-6pm, then drink until 3-4am, fight then sleep. They did this 4 weeks straight while they were attached to us.

It was impressive. They also only drove into the gatehouse bunker 5 or 6 times which was also impressive.

I like how this thread basically just turned into all of us reminiscing on our own boozy travel adventures with Aussies haha...are they ever NOT drinking & getting rowdy?
