As I was looking for any sort if confirmation of Gully's contract length, I have found what he said as he was hired:
There will definitely be a little bit of a style change in how we play," Gulutzan said. "It will lead to an exciting game. It'll be an exciting, connected team that you're going to see here.
"What we want to be is a real connected group here. We want to be connected in fives in all three zones. We want to defend fast; we are going to defend fast. We are going to utilize the assets we have here. For me the trend is how quickly we can transition from offense to defense, how much we can stay connected so we can hold onto the puck but still play fast, and how quickly we can get it back and utilize the strengths of the players that we have here. The only way you can play that way is to stay connected as a group."
Ah, okay then so that confirms it for us. Two year deal.
1) Defensive coverage is passive and lacks intensity
2) Special teams are terrible. No one moves their feet on the PP. The PK is passive. The line combinations on the PP are bad. Bad special teams was cited as a reason behind the Hartley firing. So don't give me any bull#### about "its not GG who does the PP."
3) Outside of the 3M line, no one battles well in the offensive zone. As a result, there is no zone pressure
4) Ice time management is piss poor. The fourth line is getting 10-15 minutes a game, but is composed of Stajan and Glass, two players that are AHLers at best.
5) Bennett - the highest draft pick in flames history - isn't developing properly
All of the above issues are coaching issue. Its time for Glen to go. The window isn't open for very long - we cant afford to have an inexperienced and ineffective coach at the helm.
Id like to retract my fire GG thread from October 27th. It was obviously premature and our season was never at risk of being a massive disappointment. I must have had an itchy trigger finger for no reason.
GG is an amazing coach at both the tactical and psychological parts of the game. And as a bonus, his exciting brand of hockey is super fun to watch. Sign this guy to an extension ASAP!!!

I think this game did it for me. Was prepared to wait it out, but if I were the GM the coaches would be gone as of tomorrow. The wood in the benches can coach better.
Once again, unprepared to play in the first period.
Flames miss the playoffs and the entire coaching staff needs to be fired.
Tre is on the hot seat too.
Agree but,
Flames management does not have balls to fire Treliving and Treliving will do everything to sell management on keeping Golden boy as HC.
Gulutzan is not held accountable for anything.
The fundumental problems with GG and his coaching staff are:
(a) Special teams are terrible over a large sample size
(b) Coach staff aren't good enough at the psychological aspects of coaching - lots of visible signs of this incl: the way they give up after going down a goal or two; the way they can't perform in big games; the stunted progression of Bennett and Brodie; the losses to the oilers; the sweep by the ducks.
(c) The system doesn't put enough pressure on the other team - too many d-to-d passes. Defensive system too passive. Defence don't activate enough. Not enough quick transitions.

Exactly we are built from the back out we need to take advantage of that. The D are not being utilized properly. He is the wrong coach and the wrong system for how this team is built.
