He was often a healthy scratch with Tampa and the AHL play less games. Can't just add up games to see who was more injured, and that wasn't even the intention of the original post.

One also cannot make blanket assertions about "frailty" without fairly substantial reasons, and I would say that none has been provided to pass such judgement upon Gaudreau in comparison to Marchessault.

Tampa Bay is going to need to shed salary soon enough with the upcoming raises they've got to give next season. With that being said I think that Tyler Johnson is one of the odd men out in this case. Would you be willing to give up Fox+ for Johnson? I think he'd be a good addition on the top 6. Could either play RW with Gaudreau and Monahan or could even center his own line and become the 2C and Backlund as 3C.

I would give up fox + (anyone outside of Anderson, valimaki, Parsons) in a heartbeat.
The problem is that fox's value greatly depends on a team's confidence that he'll sign with them, and that's pretty difficult to guage with any kind of certainty.

Fox to one of the NY teams could make sense then, as he'd be signing with a local team. Im sure those teams would have a lot of confidence they could get it done.

Tyler Johnson would be an amazing add. If the key peice to the deal is a 3rd round pick then it’s an amazing deal. I really like Fox as a prospect but Flames need help offensively and who knows if he signs. I do think Johnson would have a lot of suitors so the Flames would for sure have to add another roster player or prospect.

I’d give up Fox in the right deal. No sure thing he signs, would rather move on from drafting college players even though fox is a great player

Too risky. Unless the NHL changes the rules where you retain a college players rights until they are 25 it is just not worth it imo. We got lucky with a few guys but I think you will see a trend of more and more college players opting to go UFA and sign where they want.

What do people think of Paul Stastny? We could really use ROR but we will have to give up valuble assets for him while Stastny we can get for free, he is kind of like ROR lite. How much do u think he will ask for?

I think it'd be fine if we had their rights for either another year after their 4 year tenure in college, or at least be granted a 2nd round pick for compensation from the other team that signs them.

Stastny would be a great choice.
I'd also rather sign Vanek than Nash.

Tyler Johnson would be great but I think he would be expensive. If prefer him to ror personally.
I think whoever pays statsny will be disappointed. Not a bad player but he's among a weak free agent crop. That will definitely inflate his value.

Things could change like you think I suppose, but I disagree with characterizing things as "we got lucky". Gaudreau and Jankowski both signed, which despite some worrying was the expected outcome.
Serious question, though: have more been going the free agent route in recent years?

How is a free agent crop with Tavares and Carlson and Stastny weak

what's the rules for 'regular' kids drafted?
aren't kids drafted out of the CHL or euros also put back into the draft if they remain unsigned for a certain amount of time?
I thought that was the reason why Calgary traded Erixon?

Stastny is a very good player that has kind of flown under the radar the past few years.
Strong two way player and puts up good point totals despite playing a bit of a secondary role in terms of offensive opportunities.
The issue with him is that he is 32 years old, the Kane contract means that Stastny's contract will start with at least a 7, and he'll probably get 5 or 6 years of term just because someone will step up and offer it.
There's a pretty high chance whoever offers that contract to Stastny will regret it a few seasons down the road.

Serious? Johnson is a one dimensional shrimp who has a problem staying healthy, O'Reilly is one of the best 2 way centers in the league.
