It’s been 10 years since the Flames jerseys have been a tire fire. They introduced the flags in 07-08, and they’ve been an eyesore ever since. I literally have held out buying a new jersey (except the retro) because I despise the design with the flags and I kept believing there was no way this insanity continues year over year. Now it’s to the point of just pathetic.

If you don’t want to go full retro, that’s fine, just come up with something not eye raping already. We get it, you’re patriotic (well, except that the majority owner skipped town the time the province asked for more taxes off of the incredible wealth he built from the resources of this province but other than that...).

Get new uniforms already. For the love of god. And make them nice ffs. This shouldn’t be that hard. It should have been done this year but isn’t and won’t be.

Why do you hate your fans so much? I mean Jesus H tap dancing Christ, just go back to what you had in 2004, those were amazing. And then you went and got flags. And ruined it. And then held onto this catastrophe of a jersey for a decade...!!!!

^In regards to the flags, I’m not even patriotic about them. I don’t want to be Canada’s team. I don’t want to be Alberta’s team. We’re not Canada’s team or Alberta’s team. We’re Calgary’s team.

I don’t want bandwagon support from the rest of the country if we’re ever good again. This is my city and my team. I don’t want to be associated with the rest of the country. This team is for Calgary and Calgary only. The flags are garbage and need to go ASAP.

I spose you're right about that too, but god ...the hideous blue. Even if the rest of the jersey was nice, which it hasn't been since '06, It would be like eating a nice perfectly done steak knowing there is a long curly pube embedded in it.

Yup. The '04 jerseys were perfect. Universally loved. And they were with us for what, 3 seasons? Just long enough for everyone in the city to get one I suppose.

I don't really like the retros that much either but they're definitely better than what we've had lately.

You'd think that making a nice jersey with the colour and theme of this team shouldn't be that hard.

That was the thinking when they released the "Calgary" thirds a few years ago. The first couple games people were pushing aside aesthetic issues because at least it was cool to see a different look.

But then everyone agreed they sucked and eventually the team wiped them from history. In fact that experience is probably a big reason why we're going with the retros again and not trying something new. They know they can't pull it off.

Have to agree it's always been perplexing.

I get the odd design, as they were sort of forced by Reebok in 2007 so lots of teams ending up looking kind of foolish with Edmonton and Florida leading the way.

My gut says teams were being forced, the Flames and others listened, some original six teams pushed back, and the teams that "listened early" were stuck with some odd designs for years.

But why stick with it for 10+ years? That's what I don't get.

Last year was a step away from chaos by getting rid of the odd black piping, but they still have the vertical meets horizontal mess in the arm pits, stupid flags and super ugly pants.

Just bring back the retro sets ... that would make half your fans happy. And then design a third jersey that has some black in it for the next generation.

But how can they not know this? What stunted committee has to exist to not get this fixed for 11 years?

Hell even if they were money grubbing capitalists you'd think they'd see the gains in getting people to buy a new concept in a hockey market.
