I’m sure Neal will get 10 goals, so that should be good.

So third or nothing.

You're always aware of where he is when you're out there against him. To be honest, he's gotten me a couple times in my career with some big hits.

"He's a presence out there.

"He's a guy, that when you play against him, you know where he's at all times. And he's a guy that can get to the front of the net and make things happen too.

"He plays the game hard and he plays it the right way."

"Playing against him, you know he's a really fierce competitor. He's a good leader, too, a guy who has won, who has been there and done it before," Giordano explained. "Everyone around the league knows how tough he is and that grittiness he can bring into your lineup.

"He's a guy that a lot of the players in the league, including myself, respect and I think he's going to be a nice fit into our team. It will be nice to have him on our side of the ice now.”

To me this is a terrible trade because if we buy out Lucic it costs us too much money. And the third only comes in if he's outscored by ten goals? So basically we pay more money to a guy who has a NMC that we decided to honour. Why would you make this trade from a Calgary perspective? What do we gain?

And yeah, Neal might be done, but so is Lucic. Unless he miraculously makes some return to his former glory, he's a boat anchor.

I’m Wondering if the extra 500k in salary cap space will help secure Chucky before the season starts.

So, Treliving has now put fans in a position of hoping this trade becomes lopsided just to get a mediocre pick.

Great.

No, that's awesome. Really well done.

Seems like the kind of conditions fans would draw up. Not sure if I like this from a Flames perspective. What happens if Neal is 9 goals ahead of Lucic in the last two weeks of the season? If the Oilers are eliminated by then they may as well demote Neal to the 4th line to ensure he doesn't hit that condition. Seems like something the Oilers could easily get out of one way or another.

Interesting. I doubt either player hits 10 goals at all

A whole lot of mental gymnastics going on here.

For the GM of a team that was exposed pretty badly in the playoffs, Treliving has flopped this offseason thus far. This is bad.

Hard one to understand. Seems like the Flames really wanted to add some toughness. That's the only explanation.
Don't like it but not gonna melt down over it either.
Hard one to figure out though.

Only thing that makes sense to me is they were that desperate to move Neal

And applying a broad generality to what has been a pretty varied discussion is fantastic.

Yeah I suppose that could be the other explanation.
The ultimate change of scenery.
I liked it more when a 3rd was included. That seems unlikely now.
And the expansion ramifications aren't good either.
A real head scratcher.
Would like to hear what BT says on it.

Would you prefer the condition was reversed? Hoping that Lucic scores 10 more than Neal?

Seems like a nice contingency if Neal doesn't bounceback a bit.

Yeah, if him and Peters didn't get alone it makes more sense to move the player than the coach. Especially if the coach made you look good by winning the West in the regular season.
