I love squamish. The riding out there is so much fun. It can be so intimidating and that's on the "easier" trails. I've been watching Remy Metailler videos lately. He moved out to squamish and he's an amazing rider. This one is insane. I have no idea how they can ride like that.
it has a been a tiring week as i have managed to ride into work all 4 days - which will equate to around 200k, Plus I put on another 50k on my mtn bike last weekend, and tomorrow my plan to to ride the high rockies trail from driftwood to bueller and back for another 30.
i will be taking saturday off.....

I'm 60km away from the 1000km mark for the year (which is basically since May).
I'm also leaving to Europe for 3 months on Monday...looks like I'm doing a long ride this weekend!

I’m looking to ride the Banff Legacy Trail ( the bike path from Canmore to Banff). Hopefully starting from Canmore, ride to Banff, get lunch, and ride back.
Has anyone else done this trail? Got any tips? I don’t know how bad the elevation climb is.
I’ve been Riding a mountain bike and still a beginner ish for riding long paths.

It's easy peasy. Not much elevation. Start at the Canmore tourist center parking lot though. I made the mistake of starting at the Holiday Inn parking lot on the wrong side of the highway just after entering Canmore.
Question - for people with bike racks, any recommendations for a hitch mount that can clear the spare tire on a Rav4 when its folded up? The Swagman XTC4 looks good, but it lists the clearance from the hitch pin to the pivot point as 6.5", which would just be touching the spare tire cover. Maybe my calculation is wrong though.

If you are riding a mountain bike put lots of air in your tires.
Ride is pretty easy, the biggest hill at about 6km. It can get busy.

It's most flat, with one super steep/super short hill. We have been doing it annually with the kids. At first with chariots and trail a bikes. As soon as my oldest got a gear bike (8) she was good to ride it herself.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate the difficulty a 2

The whole neck apparatus looks fairly uncomfortable.
Yeah, the cyclists I have seen in the videos don't exactly look comfortable, thought some of that might be knowing they have to crash a bike on purpose.
i had a look on google and it seems this thing is selling for $300 euros - which is close to $450. Seems like it is only available in Europe - although i did not explore their website to see if they have a north american website.
I see the appeal of the product, but could never see myself buying one.

Can I still use my Hövding once the airbag has been deployed?
If your Hövding has been in an accident, it cannot be used again.
I'd be annoyed if it went off without me actually hitting my head on something and I had to buy a new one. Even in the video the "helmet" doesn't touch the ground.
Also it needs to be charged, the battery isn't replaceable and has a limit of 300 charges before it starts degrading.
I'm all for innovation but we don't need more disposable products.

I almost counted to 2 before I heard the tires tires touch down. Video got me excited to check it out, but I think i might soil myself on some of those tech features.

I had a moped when I was 14 and drove it like a moron. I wouldn't let my kid get one based on how I was when I had it. In around 2010 I bought a 50cc Yamaha Cube just for fun and it was great, but they're powerful enough that I wouldn't want a kid cruising around on 60km/h roads with it, which it will be able to do.
If you look at ebikes, I'd check out www.radpowerbikes.ca. They just released a new model and I think it's $1799 w/ shipping. They have other models, too, all of which are cool. Other models are $1999, I believe.
Those seem cheap, possibly too cheap. Most of the eBikes I have seen have been over $3000. Have they started coming down in price? That site doesn't offer any returns, so I'd definitely want to try one before buying.
With my knees I'm going to need some help with the commute.
