Got one of three. I was close on another but way off on Backlund but not surprised.

I didn't think too hard about UFA's and decided to go after one player with most of my cheese.

Picked Stastny as I liked his stats across the board and figured Hoffman would get paid.

Happy to bring Statsny back.

Picked up 2 solid forwards at a reasonable contract. Pretty happy with how Batch 1 went for us.

Ya I thought you did well for sure. Those are good contracts.

Your team is stacked.

Some pretty good value signings in batch 1. Chara for 1.0 mil and Rinne for 1.81 are both really nice deals.

Habs went 3/5

We were happy to bring in Chariot to add a defensive presence to our top 4 D.

Rinne and Smith bring reliability and a veteran presence in the crease. One may be moved or I will keep all 3 depending on how the rest of UFA/ summer trading goes.

We missed on Kovalchuk and Subban. Our offers were pretty close to the offers that got them.

Overall we are happy with how batch 1 played out for us.

1/3

Glad to get Koskinen back at 4 million cheaper than his UFA rate would have been.

Wasn't even close on Holtby or Subban.

Buffalo was short one forward. I figured the top centers would get higher bids so I focused on offensive wings. I targeted Kovalchuk and Hornqvist. I only had $2.5M to spend. I'm pleased to get Kovy for under $2M and not surprised I missed on Hornqvist with the small amount of $ I had left.

The Hawks went 2/5 on batch 1 offers.

I'm very pleased to get Kuemper and Shattenkirk on value deals. Solidifies my defense and gives me a starting goalie at less than 3 mill.

I wasn't close on Holtby or Stastny, but wasn't too far off on Koskinen.

Someone should have lowballed Borowieki. Could have got a decently rated dman for peanuts.

Looking at the overall picture.

As expected the higher demanded guys got big pay days. But nothing too crazy.

I expected Backlund to get a big payday as he was the player that most would want to get their hands on.

A few really good bargain deals mixed in on D with Shartenkirk and Chara getting much less than I expected. Makes me wonder if I went way to high on Chariot. But I wanted him based on his age and defensive value as I felt 80+ DF could really benefit my team.

The Jackets really stocked up in this round. Paid as few high prices but got quality pieces to add to the roster.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Going in to this Batch, there were quite a few teams with a lot of cap space and a lot of holes in their rosters.

With high end guys being limited, I'm actually surprised the prices were so low.

I thought Statsny would have gotten 5M+, so after looking at the prices I'm wishing I offered a bit less, but there's no way of knowing going in.

I think the teams with winning bids did well this round. There are no contracts that are completely out to lunch and most GMs seem happy. That’s rare in UFA. Will be interesting to see found 2.

Hurricanes happy to not get tied to a bad contract, made modest offers on the big 3

My guess would have me 2nd highest on 5-7 players

Wow honestly thought someone would pay Subban a lot more than my offer

I don't think you went too high on Chariot. He was a dman that I initially targeted, but decided not to make an offer as I thought he would garner considerable interest due to the factors you identified. Seems like a good signing to me.

Some other facts.
There weren't a lot of close offers. Usually there are some people who win by just a few dollars, but this time the closest gaps between the winning and second best offers were:
- Chara (0.75)
- Shattenkirk (1.41)
- Smith (1.47)
- Subban (1.47)

The biggest gaps between the winning and second best offers were
- Holtby (10.29)
- Edler (12.6)
- Stastny (6.66)
- Hornqvist (5.25)

Seems like it is a very strong crop for goalies, looking at the 2nd round batch, a mediocre dman crop and a very poor forward crop.

There were 5 offers on Chiarot so lots of interest, yours was 3.24 better than the next best offer.
