I sure jumped the gun. I changed the channel right after the Marlins thought they went ahead and then flipped back later to see if it was still on and Jansen had just sacrifice bunted and it was still 4-4.

Dolis seems to be rounding into form, Romano is looking like Giles jr, and when Giles comes back the back end of the bullpen sure seems stacked on paper.

Giles, Romano, Dolis, Bass, Cole and then you have young (hopefully) future starters in Kay, Hatch and Borucki kicking around as well, with their stuff playing up in the bullpen so far.

The rotation has been decent too, hopefully they can start hitting.

Hopefully that's the end of that experiment, but it's Montoyo, so I doubt it.
Ya the decision to go with Bass over Romano reeks of Montoyo going with "vet experience" in a high leverage situation rather than just putting the best player in to win the game. In a 60 game season with expanded playoffs every game means a lot more right now and it's not really time to go with dinosaur era tactics.

Crazy that the Dodgers have probably the best, or 2nd best roster in MLB and have been to the WS twice recently, yet still have a top 5 ranked farm system.

Anyways, nice to see the Jays still ranked so high despite graduating four players last season.

Also, screw off Rays.

Having so many great young players on the roster, PLUS the 4th rank prospect pool? That is awesome.

As for the Dodgers, yes it's amazing, but it is probably also a situation where the prospects can't make the club and thus are still all in the minors. Imagine the Jays' farm system if the big club were full of vets and the kids were still waiting to graduate?

Add some of Pearson, Kay, Hatch, Guerrero, Bichette, Biggio and Gurriel to the current prospect pool and it is easily the best in baseball. To be ranked 4th, after graduating those 7 guys, is crazy.

And yes, #### the Rays

I feel like baseball is prime "hindsight is 20/20”

It's pretty easy to say the manager shouldn’t have done it after the fact.

It also seems clear that they are being very cautious with pitchers arms to start the season.

Bass had a 3 run lead. If he can't close that out that's on him.

And a 0.00 ERA prior to that inning

That one isn't hindsight at all. Anthony Bass is not a closer, never has been. Just because it was working for the first small sample of games this season doesn't mean it was the right call.

This is why I miss Gibby. IMO, he would have put Romano as the closer as soon as Giles went down. He wasn't afraid to use the best option available, experience or not.

Jesus, Pearson over 40 pitches already and only has 5 outs so far.

44 pitches after two innings. Two BBs, no Ks and a 3 run dinger.

My mistake, Pearson is still considered a prospect

Yet another stupid play with Shaw getting hung up between 1st and 2nd to end an inning

It's happening too much and Montoya is going to have to do something

Yamamoto isn’t hitting his spots and can’t throw strikes. And when he does they’re mid 80’s fastballs down the middle. How the BlueJays aren’t teeing off on this guy is beyond me.

Wow. Ugly ugly baseball from the Jays right now. I think the Bisons could beat them.

Also starting to wonder if Vlad will be good at anything in the major leagues. He can't hit, he can't play D, he can barely run the bases, what can he do?

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts next season in AAA to try and get some of his swagger back.

That's sort of where I am at right now too. This season can be viewed as a developmental year as well and maybe open his eyes as to what MLB expectations are. I just don't know if he is mentally where he needs to be if he wants to be a pro. He's obviously out of shape, he's missing plays at first that in the pros you have to make, part of that is the Jays fault for throwing him at first so late, but obviously he shares the blame for coming out of the break simply out of shape and in no condition to play 3rd base at a major league level. I would begrudgingly accept his physical condition if he was mashing balls like a Prince Fielder etc but of course he is not.

that 3rd inning was possibly the worst baseball I have ever seen from a major league team

this is why I was calling for Montoya to get tougher on them - if you tolerate mistakes, you get more and more mistakes. Yes, you have to be patient with the kids, but some things - basic fundamentals like running the bases and being aware of what's happening in the game - these mistakes are inexcusable

regarding Guerrero, I don't agree with you guys - he'll be fine
