I was driving my wife to her friends while the girl "called in".
Might have been the most cringeworthy radio I have ever listened to.

Yeah that's stupid.
Them: "Look people were mean to her and called her out for cheating, and slut shamed her. That didn't happen to a guy"
Everyone: "Did you put a guy on a different corner to see what happened to him"
Them: "Well no, but look how mean everyone was to her!!!"

So this was ridiculous. How do you expose a double standard if you don't do it with a guy to see how people treated him?
And "slut shaming " I feel like needs to be reserved for people not in committed relationships. If you cheat on someone, you don't get a pass to play victim if you're called out for it.
Whole thing is just terrible, should have just played it off as a funny joke and not try to make terrible social commentary.

Victim blaming? Isn’t the person who was cheated on the victim? This is weird.

Lol, it's not really an experiment when they've set the whole thing up as a tool to validate their pre-determined conclusion.
"Lets prove our point. Lets put a girl with a sign that says she cheated to gauge reaction. But just to be safe, lets not have a guy do the same thing in the opposite corner, in case he gets slammed as well, which would then undermine what we want it to show i the first place".

Yeah, this is a 'social experiment' with no value. There was no 'experiment' part to this.

Well now that's officially the dumbest and most meaningless thing.
"Guys are treated differently" But they didn't test it
"Some people slut shamed her" therefore all guys are evil.
the only thing this experiment proved was that the people that concocted it are morons.

Yeah...I think they need to go and read Wiki's page on 'The Scientific Method' just to start.
Where was the control group? How was it measured? What is it being compared against?
"It turned ugly."
Well. Yeah. Anyone could have told you that and saved the poor girl the trouble.
See, this is why society in general is hesitant to turn to Radio Stations for hard scientific theory. Its a sad state of affairs.

Radio personalities in Calgary are so cringey for the most part.

Wait, when did this policy start? Radio stations have taught me plenty of science stuff. For example, did you know that turkeys can't fly? (Dating myself with that reference).

Yeah I went to school with Katie "Summers" (not her real name) -- no big surprises here.

I saw a comment elsewhere that mentioned that this wouldn't be considered slut shaming by just about anyone.
If the radio people need an example of what actual 'slut shaming' looks like [MOD EDIT: let’s not use names]

I saw the photo and tbh, I thought they'd just cooked up some sort of stunt with her & it was her behind the sign (I didn't really pay a lot of attention to it, to get a good look). Amp seems to be good at the silly stunts.
