Default Norton Antivirus Expired

My laptop came with a free trail or Norton that has expired recently. I keep getting reminders that it's gone, so I need a new antivirus.
Google is giving me various answers.
What are the kool kids on CP using/recommending nowadays for their PCs?

I've primarily used Windows Defender, which has now been integrated into Windows since 7, for years and years and years. I also use Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit for my browser. I only run Malwarebytes every few months if I remember to.

I'm trying out the new free Kaspersky and it seems to be fairly lightweight, though I don't like that you have to login with it.

I've always used whatever virus protection my internet provider provides. With Telus, I'm using Norton

Well it's owned by Russians, but not Russia. Trump's banned it from use in the US federal government and Best Buy pulled it off their shelves.

But I don't think it's software that's hijacking my computer to spy on me for mother Russia

Free version of Avast for me too and never have had a problem. I think what really keeps my laptop out of trouble though is adblocker.

Avast has gotten as bad as Norton as far as using system resources and blowing ads in your face. Panda Free AV works extremely well though.

Hooray! CCleaner apparently distributed malware for a month or so before it was recently detected. :|

It seems only users of the 32-bit version or the Cloud version of CCleaner could have been impacted. And it seems the malware has been disabled and had some buggy code that prevented proper execution in the first place.

I use a combination of Avast!, malwarebytes and Nod32 online scanner. Windows Defender runs on win 10 as well.

It's served me fine so far.

I used the AVG Suite, the reason I got it is because I use it to protect my home PC, my laptop and my dads system.

So it was cheap.

I do like their antivirus/anti-malwared. I also like their optimization tool box.

I use Norton. It's cheap enough, seems to be pretty lightweight, and it does the job.

I use Windows Defender built into Windows 10. It works well for the average home user and it doesn't pop up constant ads or upgrade notifications like the free Avast and Avira, etc. do.

Malwarebytes is good if you are willing to do scans manually as the free version (last I tried) doesn't have any automation.

Avast, Malwarebytes and Super anti-spyware.

Has kept me safe for a few years and all are lightweight. Granted, I'm also not an idiot on the internet, so yeah.
