According to Kelly Hrudey, Sieloff has a history of this in training camps. Calgary mngt warned the other players when he was there.

I would think so. I recall he lit up Baertschi that one time and Sven went stick-crazy afterwards.

Hmmm I think you're right.
Was there a different Baertschi / Sieloff moment?

Clarke MacArthur suffers concussion in Training Camp scrimmage hit by Sieloff
Yeah, could've sworn it was Baertschi/Sieloff too.

Hockey hit. As someone mentioned if MacArthur cannot take that hit in a scrimmage then he shouldn't be playing. Opposition will hit him harder and dirtier.
That is Seiloff's game. Dorion's interview is a piss off. "That's a team in there, they're gonna rally?" Someone tell him Seiloff is part of their team too. Unless its guys who are expected to make the team vs tryouts/prospects.
If I was Seiloff, I wouldn't even stick around there, asked to be released and move on.

Why wasn't MacArthur wearing a non contact jersey? For that matter why didn't Sens coaches instruct them to keep the physical to a minimum until pre-season started?
Not defending Sieloff here, that was reckless on his part given the context. But Sens organization dropped the ball. Not even their first concussion of training camp.

Just because a hit to his head concussed him, does NOT mean that he wasn't fit to play.
Why are people having a heard time with that?

No. It was a head shot 100% and not a clean hit at all.
I'm not going to say that Sieloff did that intentionally because 1) I'm not a mind reader and have no idea what Sieloff's thinking there, and 2) It wouldn't make sense that he'd do THAT intentionally.
That said, the fact that you and a good number of others on this forum apparently think this is a good 'hockey hit' or 'run of the mill' hit is incredible. You (and others) have gotta be kidding me. Unbelievable.
Watch the video again. The guy leaves his feet and drives his shoulder directly into MacArthur's head.
That is BOTH not clean AND not acceptable.

I must be watching a different video. Doesn't look like he leaves his feet to me. I dont think that would be a penalty in regular game.
But I dont think its OK to cheap shot a potential teammate in training camp even if the hit is technically legal under the rulebook.

If you freeze it frame by frame it does not look like the head was the primary point of contact.
It does look shoulder to shoulder IMO from that angle. What I would coincide to is that it is a blindside hit. MacArthur didn't see it coming and had his body in a valurnable postion. Sieloff should have backed off during a scrimmage. I think he could have made a decent hit there but didn't need to put him through the boards.

Why does this have it's own thread? It's a Senators training camp incident.

Hard to argue it wasn't a high hit (ie dirty), but slowing it down and watching it numerous times, he didn't leave his feet until after contact was made IMO.

Didn't look intentional to me but still a really stupid play. As others have said these guys are your teammates. Save trying to be noticed for the preseason games, not a scrimmage. Good on Ryan for going after him.

It's an interesting enough topic on its own even ignoring the former Flame connection. Would rather have dedicated threads for stuff like this and if there isn't any interest it will fall off the first page pretty quick

I'm guessing Clarke MacArthur would have had a similar injury at some point during the season. The poor guy was as injury prone as can be.
Just too bad a unnecessary hit from Sieloff ended his season so early.

Hasn't MacArthur had, like 50 concussions? He'd probably get a concussion if you looked at him the wrong way. It wasn't that great a hit, MacArthur just has a bad brain.

Yeah, I've watched it a bunch... it doesn't look like he left his feet or made direct contact with the head. I think his head bounced off the boards.

Yeah? Well you and combustiblefuel (and anyone else who doesn't get it) are clearly wrong, and I mean dead wrong. Sieloff does leave his feet just before hitting MacArthur AND puts his shoulder directly into MacArthur's head. NOT a clean hit regardless of intent. A headshot through and through.
