You should have put this in the other sports forum. Tried surfing once in Australia years ago and managed to stand up...using a board the size of a 59 Chrysler. Got spooked when the Instructor started getting concerned with Sharks. Not sure if he was looking to get out early and taking advantage of idiot tourists or if it was legit.
Another time in Brazil I was at a beach where they had one, but I got distracted by a bikini competition they were having at the same time. Which in today's world I think men wanting to look at women like that is illegal, and people will call for me to be fired for such a heinous act
Always fun to see the pro's surf live in good conditions.

It's not illegal. That's why it's a competition. Especially in Brazil it's probably fine. And btw, any beauty competition is watched by women not men.

At a place like that on a day like that - yes it will happen but probably not as often as you’d think.
Those are waves of consequence and the code in the water would be in full effect. Nobody would be ####ing around.
Apparently on guy on Sunday slammed his head into the reef and had to resuscitated on the beach. Cracked the helmet he was wearing. Probably saved his life.

2 Christmas’ ago, I spent the day I’m the Kauai emergency room after hitting my head on a rock after a pretty big storm. Had a pretty bad concussion and a few staples in the head - told multiple times I was lucky to be alive. Lucky my wife still lets me surf - she thought she lost me that day.
