Yeah, they beat the Rams he has a legit shot at the SB IMO with the Packers loss.

Either way, things are likely to turn south in TB with Arians vs Brown, a depleted WR, and really nothing else to win there, so time to move on and steer clear on a potential tire fire.

That said, even though he doesn't need anything in life, I'm not wholly convinced he's played his last down in the NFL.

He's going to pull a Farve and come back with the Titans for one last dance... ....I hope

For me, he has surpassed MJ as the greatest American athlete in a team sport ever.

If he comes back it'll be the 49ers, and the 49ers only. But I just don't see it, he could have just not retired and gone there anyway.

Well, somewhere unread does say he wanted to make sure the Bucs could move on etc etc and not have uncertainty hanging around for another few weeks, but I think it's also a signal so other teams could properly put together a plan to coax him back for next year, such as SF.

It's probably a 10% likelihood he plays again IMO, but also wants to distance himself from Tampa asap for lots of reasons and see what else is out there, potentially.

I'm surprised that Brady is opting to retire now. I thought he would play one more year for sure. I thought he would take a bit more time to decide as well. What a career though. If we see another like it in my lifetime I'll be absolutely shocked. Was never a Patriot fan and more often than not rooted against him. But I had a lot of respect for him and what he did. The Greatest of all Time, and in his case, I think the longevity should count and matter. He did more after age 37 than most any other QB has in his entire career.

Wow. Not every day that the GOAT in a sport retires.

I was a pretty big Pats fan (and more specifically a Drew Bledsoe fan) before Brady arrived. When he took over and they won the Super Bowl right away, it wasn’t a big deal but looking back at his career you can’t help but respect how he did it and for how long. What a career.

Not going to believe it until the press conference. I'm sure Kraft and Belichick have been in his ear all weekend. It's not just the loss of McDaniels as he's taking the GM and probably some other coaches with him. I don't like the man but he's got six Super Bowl rings, learned to cheat and win from the best and hopefully he's learned from his Denver mistakes.

The Las Vegas Raiders have hired former New England Patriots director of player personnel Dave Zielger as general manager on Sunday and are expected to hire Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as their new head coach, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter, in a package deal.

The Raiders and McDaniels are still finalizing a contract, the sources said.

The 44-year-old Ziegler, the Patriots' director of player personnel, replaces Mike Mayock, who was fired earlier this month. He interviewed with the Raiders earlier in January.

Texans interviewing Brian Flores in person today which is the second time they have talked about the opening. Kevin O'Connell is expected to meet with them again this week as well according to Tom Pelissero.

That would leave Gannon, McCown, Flores & O'Connell as candidates who have received followup IV's with the Texans about the job.

Jaguars to interview Rich Basaccia. Selfishly I would love to see him stay on as the special teams coach but given the situation I wouldn't hold it against him if he thought it was best to move on. I'm really happy that he's getting a chance to interview for a head coach job.

I like the hire. I don't like McDaniels but nice guys finish last in the NFL and I think he was one of if not the best candidates available. Unlike with the Broncos he's not running the show as Zeigler (the guy Elway wanted but pulled his name from the Broncos GM search last year after interviewing) has final say in personnel.

I mean not running personnel this time is nice. But the big problem wasn't really that last time, it's that his players universally hated him by the end in Denver. If he hasn't learned from that then it doesn't matter whether he's also doing personnel or not.
