Don't think the Flames are where they are with Neal in the lineup. Easy to see who won the trade! Liking Lucic's energy, grit.

The lack of self awareness is impressive. They are debating whether or not fans ran players out of town by quoting the exact reason why they ran them out of town!

The chuckle for me was the poster who gleefully stated that all the playoffs do is make the flames have a worse draft position. It’s as if the draft position is the win instead of what drafting order really is (a priority sequence to help weaker teams get better).
Oiler fans are from the Ricky Bobby school of thought. If you're not first, you're last. And they practice it on and off the ice.

I'm not sure how it's even arguable at this point... Lucic was brought in for a certain time of year, Neal was brought in to provide secondary scoring.

One is justifying this and the other did not.

I get it, contract blah blah. But the fact is that Calgary can absorb the lucic contract and conditions better than Edmonton could. And so, you can say that in that the context of the contract alone, Edmonton got a small victory. However, this card has not been flipped over yet since it is all to do with how lucic and the team handled the expansion draft.

That being said, play on the ice vastly outweighs contractual snags and play on the ice during the playoffs vastly outweighs that in October.

This trade is a win without even having to take into account the salary Edmonton ate or the pick that is being sent.

Neal complaining about off ice behaviour is pretty rich.

Right; dude was an instant problem to the mood in the locker room and was a pouter as soon as Lindholm took his rightfully earned place alongside Gaudreau and Monahan.

There is no debate any more.

Neal was a cancer and the team had to get rid of him. The price for that was taking dead cap space back in the form of Lucic. Lucic's value as a player at the time was zero and the cost of moving Neal was eating Looch's salary.

But now, Lucic is contributing as a 3rd liner and as a leader. Suddenly, the trade is a useful player, plus some cap space, plus a 3rd for a cancer.

And the cap space pays for Reider.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

You wish. Edmonton fashion these days is like if 70's era California happened in Soviet Russia.
