Default T. Erixon returns to Sweden

Former Flames 1st round pick is heading back to Sweden to continue his hockey career.

https://www.vaxjolakers.se/artikel/c...har-skrivit-pa

Signed a 2 year deal with the Vaxjo Lakers of the SHL. He will play with former Flame Roman Horak, who ironically was part of the return when the Flames traded Erixon's rights to the Rangers

Erixon has been stuck in the AHL for the last 4 seasons, last playing in the NHL in the 2014/15 season. Hasn't had a NHL contract since the 16/17 season.

Has 93 NHL games played recording 2 goals and 12 assists.

I know the "in" thing is to rag on Erixon, but i have to give him credit that he stayed over in North America as long as he did. Most euro players would have packed up on the dream of NHL long ago. He wasn't goood enough but he gave huge effort to try and make it.

Nah, its not just an "in" thing. I genuinely dislike the player and others like him who feel they are entitled without accomplishing anything in the NHL. He would have actually gotten a solid chance with Calgary and people were really excited for him.

Perhaps the same attitude that led him to playing for the Rangers is the same attitude that led him to where he is now. He wasn’t good enough because he felt he didn’t have to work on himself and earn anything.

You don’t pull a stunt like what Tom pulled without some real questionable underlying character deficits. So yeah, good riddance.

It’s entirely likely that he was absolutely good enough and did not give enough of an effort. Just hanging around isn’t a “huge” effort.

He chose to try to play the business game instead of putting the effort in, and it blew up in his face.

We are all dumber for having watched his career progression. I award him no points, and may god have mercy on his soul.

This clown couldnt crack our Defensive lineup anyways.

Hamonic's jock-strap would be ahead of him on the depth chart.

10 years since he was drafted already. Wow

8 years since he was traded for Horak and two picks that ended up as Granlund and Wotherspoon IIRC?

Granlund turned into Andersson? Is that right?

I see. So...

Tom -> Horak + Wotherspoon + Granlund

Horak -> a couple years of Smid -> Nothing
Wotherspoon -> Nothing
Granlund -> Shinkaruk -> Nothing

Yikes.

Shinkaruk was traded for Rychel, who is still Flames' property for now (we'll see if he is given a qualifying offer or signs an extension this month).

Forgot about that too, but IMO it's only a matter of time before that finally fizzles into nothing as well.
