With McDavid coming in, Eakins would have probably been nominated for the Jack Adams. Regardless of the past, Eakins will be a better fit in Philly than that enforcer-turned-coach Berube.

I despise the Flyers more than the Oilers so am happy that they get Eakins.

I would not be surprised at all if we learned that this is Champion finally making a "triumphant" return.
Quick answer! How many Giordanos do you guys have??

The answer to the question "Nobody could be worse than Berube, can they?"
Though it should be noted that Eakins is only one of several candidates the Flyers are looking into.

Does Eakins check off some affirmative action boxes or something?

I want to see this because it may be possible that Edmonton is just a nexus of no good. Take anything out of Edmonton it gets better.
If Eakins a is good coach and Dubnyk a good goalie then maybe the nexus of no good can crush Chirelli and McDavid as well.

Eakins was successful in AHL before coaching the Oilers. Maybe it is just the Oilers thing that makes the coaches awful. Just look at Pat Quinn and Tom Renney. They were good coaches before coaching the Oilers. If Eakins gets some success with Philly then more power to him. I actually hoping he does better to show how awful the Edmonton Oilers organization is/was.

LOL!
1) Good coaches turn bad teams around. Bad coaches make them worse. They got worse.
2) Getting a generational gimme/freebie player does not win a coach a Jack Adams trophy. In fact it would give every voter a reason to not vote. "Was it the coaching, or was it really McDavid?" And that's assuming they improve markedly next year, which they will not if they use McDavid as a crutch.
3) You can put the Kool-Aid back in the fridge. They dusted the entire group Related to that Eakins fiasco. THAT is what you should be excited about, not McDavid.
4) Lastly, your username suggests that you are a) pulling an obvious troll job, or b) actually from Edmonton. It's impossible to tell. If you went with oylazboiMacdtotheshnizzle, then it would be obvious your an Edmontonian, because like everything up there, you would be using phrases, and pop culture references that are 10 years old.
Welcome to the board!

Nobody from Edmonton would actually say that Eakins needed more time. Pretty sure MacTavish was fired in large part because he held onto Eakins way too long.

As a Flames fan, I feel the same way. It's also too bad they didn't keep Lowe and Mctavish in their roles for another ten years.

At least his username is appropriate. The bandwagon trolls come out of hiding the moment they win the draft lottery. Which, I might say, must be embarrassing for you real Oiler fans.
