What does this mean for the Flames player wise?
Is Valimaki eligible?

One downside of pushing the expansion back to 2021 is that the Flames will need to protect Valimaki in the expansion draft. He would have been safe for 2020.

If they decide to go with the Bruckheimer tie-in on a name: Top Guns or Pirates.

Tippet says they will probably hire a GM after this season ends because a lot of the guys they want to talk to are still under contract and probably won't be given permission right now.

Assuming they protect 3 d-men, you have to think it will be (barring other changes): Andersson, Valimaki, and Kylington.
Never mind, I'm stupid.

Seriously, why is Vegas exempt? Won’t they be 5 years in at that point? That seems pretty silly.

Meh, they don't get any expansion money either.

I'm guessing they go with a Totem animal.
If they want to honor Boeing I guess they could go with Phantoms or Eagles or Hornets. Meh, Phantoms would be cool I guess.

Of course the reporter from Quebec asks if the league is going to stop at 32 teams or if there is a potential for future expansion.

I think Yzerman has a great chance to become the GM.

That was the deal the NHL made when Vegas was given the franchise. They wouldn't get any of the next expansion fee and in return they would be exempt from the next expansion draft.

So, yeah, one of those guys will get exposed (or they'll have to go 4F/4D).

Hmm, so their opportunity cost to not participate is $20+ million. I think that's fair.

Whoever we lose in the expansion draft, it will be worth it simply to see the Arizona Coyotes less.
