Do we just not teach people how to serve in this country?!

Let's hope they'll be contained to that one game.

Even when she wasn't double faulting I would guess her first serve percentage in that game was about 20%.

Another break of serve in a game where Layla got what, one first serve into the court?
Even her drop shot has disappeared. Whoof... What a drop off.

Those are some ugly drop shots. Let’s stop doing that.
Momentum changed so quickly here. Serving at Ad in to go up 5-2, double fault and then an avalanche.

Tough to watch a collapse so entirely self-inflicted.

Gotta stay the course, Leylah easily could have been up 5-2, instead Kerber takes it 6-4.

On the contrary, a couple of holds would go a long way. First one at love is a good start.
On Kerber's serve, just get the return in and see how the rally goes. Her patience and opportunism is her path to victory.

Yeah, that would certainly help, but Kerber was making good (and I would say at times lucky) shots that were clipping lines. Fine margin of error was going her way in the opening set.

Well, true, but to be fair, it's Kerber. She's going to hit a few of those.
Leylah's going for too much right now. It's not how she started the match at all. It speaks to a lack of confidence - "I need to win the point right now or I might hit an error soon".

Uh oh, this is big trouble.
Edit: Love the positive body language from Leylah though - Only a single break down.

Yeah, but she's completely lost her gameplan from when she came in, which was to out-Kerber Kerber. She is now trying to be Bianca and hit hard winners close to the lines where before it was about extending the rally and waiting for a chance to hit a drop shot or a volley or something. I guess that happens when you're 18 but there's not much of a road back here playing this opponent this way.
