Yeah that's another thing I noticed. I'm starting to blade more of my wedges and they go way too far (skulled) without backspin. It's probably the weakest part of my game.

Now this my friends is the very definition of explosive distance off of the tee

Looking at the forecast, should still be a couple more rounds get in before the end of the season.

I suppose you would learn to pace yourself a little better if you lived in a year round golf climate, but I am more or less ready for a break by the time October rolls around. The 6 month golf season here is fine with me and makes me appreciate it more.
The 6 months off is not good for my game. I find that by late August and into September i'm playing my best and am comfortable with all parts of my game. I lose that over the winter and have to start all over in the spring

Do you hit balls indoors at all during the winter?

Bali Hai just south of Mandalay Bay is great golf, and it is right on the strip. Bear's Best is fun and memorable, especially f you have played some of the courses that the holes are borrowed from. If you don't mind a short drive, the Falls at Lake Las Vegas is an absolute must play. Spectacular course! I would also say you should play Paiute. Any of the three courses is outstanding golf. Finally, Primm Valley is great golf and it is a really good deal (if you are staying at the MGM, try and talk them into a round at Shadow Creek). That should keep you busy and your wallet in shock.

None. Any suggestions where a High Riverite could hit during the winter?

I work close to TPC Fox Hollow so I use the dome there.

Guess the closest for you would be the simulator at Shanks South.

Unfortunately The Falls is no more. It didn't survive the real estate crash and is now being turned into park space and housing after being closed for the past several years.

It's a real shame - in my opinion The Falls was the best of the three courses at LLV. Reflection Bay was closed for a while as well, but it has now re-opened.

Golf canada centre outdoor range is open year round. There are plenty of days in the winter above 0 degrees and with the heaters they have, it really is the best place to practice during the winter.

^ I have often wondered if hitting cold balls with your driver does any damage to your driver?

Banff Springs was glorious yesterday. It was a bit chilly when we teed off but then the sun came out after a few holes and it was quite warm.

Elk were everywhere. I tried to play an approach shot over 4 of them on the first hole on Tunnel and bladed it right through the herd. Thankfully they heard about my pathetic wedge game in advance and were prepared to scramble out of the way.

hmmm, I have never even thought about this. I have been using the R1 for a few years now at the range in winter, and everything seems ok. As mentioned though, I will only go when the temperature is above 0. Combined with the heaters, it is decent enough and basically the same as a cooler spring or fall day.

The prices at the indoor ranges are crazy from what I recall. Isnt is something like $26/hr?

It can. I caved a few faces hitting cold range balls. This was when the companies started making drivers with a 0.83 COR (spring-like effect) and they had not perfected making a face that was both strong and springy. I haven't caved a face since, but I also stopped hitting cold range balls...

I have decided to get in one last round tomorrow or Monday morning, but will make it count with a decent course. Any suggestions on courses that are looking really good at the moment? I was initially thinking Redwood meadows, but I believe they are members only until noon?

I am golfing 3 rounds this weekend and then that's it.

Was down in Dallas last weekend and my buddy kept telling me I align WAY to far right off the tee. I'm wondering if this is the reason I'm always fighting trouble and play recovery half the time.

lol, scratch my question. Good luck getting a tee time for the weekend if you don't already have something booked. Everyone is packed.

I'm done until Phoenix in November. 47 rounds this year, including 4 in Victoria and 2 in Mexico. Hoping to get 3 rounds in Phoenix for an even 50 for the year.
