But hey, Kenney’s boots might taste good. What do I know?
You understand that if governments leave you alone, that healthcare gets over run and collapses, right? They aren't just doing this for ####s and giggles. There are very real consequences to "being left alone", which is why Sliver suggested if you really want that, leave society. If you want to be a member, buck up. It's going to be a long ride.

Everyone get their Booster and a shot of resolve while they're at it.

Normally, I'd say my dating life is none of your business but I don't really anticipate doing it any differently as a result of my vaccinations. I AM open to suggestions, though.

You got pushback because you compared the trend to an invalid number (implying that getting vaccinated made you twice as likely to get covid or die of covid than being unvaxxed) and also stated that, as a result of this comparison, you are choosing not to get vaccinated.

Those are huge leaps, and are unfounded.

Thinking about the spike in cases in the primarily 3-14 day range after initial vaccination, another relevant factor is that the shot caused symptoms similar to covid in many. When you get vaccinated, you are given a sheet listing these symptoms, and are told to get tested if they persist 48 hours after the shot. So you would expect case counts to be low in the first couple days after initial immunization.

Day 3 case counts are on part with day 16 case counts. The fact that day 0 is way lower than day 30, and day 1 is on par with day 30 tells me that 0 and 1 day post immunization are artificially low numbers.

Yes. Hence I’ve gotten vaccinated and worn a mask when I go out. I’ve followed all the rules. I plan on booking my booster soon.

My frustration comes from doing all that and still being punished. It’s further compounded by the fact that Omicron has so far been extremely mild. I don’t view these measures as necessary. They’re panic moves and they punish everyone who did what they had to in order to move on.

Enough is enough with this crap.

You can still go out for beers. You can still shop. You can still go to hockey games. You can still do...pretty much everything?

I would recommend against taking a shot of Resolve. If you do, please contact your local poison control centre immediately. Drinking carpet cleaner is a bad idea.

Thanks - all appear to be from the same year and we’re the result of a double whammy of the flu AND norovirus. These also weren’t accounting for flood capacity set up for Covid - ie. We have far more beds and capacity and these were all utilized in the last wave. From what I can tell this was more of a blip than what we have seen with Covid.

lol I love how you see yourself in this. The selfless hero who has done everything right, but every man has his breaking point. Not being able to eat nachos at a flames game was NEB's. Fight that good fight, bud. One day they'll sing songs about you.

We're not certain if omicron is mild. I, too, hope it is. Everyone does. You're not seeing the truth while we're all stuck in a fog. Wait for the data - there are many places ahead of us on their omicron ride and we'll reap the benefit of their suffering (or lack thereof).

Kenney added virtually nothing onerous to your life today, and did give more of us the option for a booster.

You're not being punished anymore than my kids are when I would put them on timeout for acting out inappropriately. Hang tight, let the smart people establish exactly how dangerous omicron is and the risk it poses to our healthcare system, then we'll go from there.

In the meantime, why not go out for dinner tonight with nine of your closest friends, grab a couple beers, then hit a late show at a theater. Maybe tomorrow take out your frustrations on the mountain by skiing at Sunshine. If you're still feeling like there are just too many rules, idk, maybe go knock off some Christmas shopping at the mall and grab a cinnamon.

No offense, but nobody cares if you are tired of this. We all are, but there is still work to be done to move forward.

I found stories from 2013 and 2018 - I guess my copy/paste failed me. Bad flu seasons happen about every five years.

I guess my point is if only a small fraction of people under the age of 50 found the time to get a flu shot every year, despite all of the public awareness campaigns and the crisis at hospitals every few years, I have a hard time seeing 80 per cent of people making multiple covid shots a regular part of their lives in the coming years. Even with the jolt of public awareness from the pandemic, I’d be surprised to see either annual flu or covid vaccination rates much higher than 50 per cent in 2022 and beyond.

Well my informal poll of approx 20 or so people in Fernie that include gym owners, bar owners, patrons, and random people is a resounding GFY.

I haven't talked to a single person today that is understanding of the new restrictions. Not a single person I chatted with is going to adhere to them over xmas and New Years either.

I'm going to be pretty interested to see how this goes over the next 2 weeks. My impression is "not well".

Almost like the only people who are thrilled with today's news have been posting and belittling about the greater good in the covid forums on Calgarypuck, and searching pie charts and graphs for the last two and a half years

I would say yes and no. Booster rates in older people, who are some of the most vulnerable, are already somewhat high. That should have a significant effect on severe cases/deaths.

Boosters for people sub-60, will simply be not in time. It takes 14 days for boosters to take effect. Christmas is in 4 days, and we set a record for most cases in a day in Canada today.

I fully expect cases to at least triple from their current point. I already know of about 10 people who've had Omicron. They all had very minor symptoms. I'm hoping that the reports of Omicron having minor symptoms are true, and this is the end of this. A lot of people will get a minor version of Covid, and then we'll move on.

The booster appointments do seem to be filling up quickly so that’s a good sign.

But really we need to stop putting off segregation of society. No health care for the unvaccinated? Problem solved!

The issue is that 99% of new cases are going to be driven by family Christmas get to togethers. The government didn't actually address these get to togethers. Instead they randomly demanded a shut down of businesses likes bars, that are operating as restaurants, with no mingling, but kept restaurants open.

It's bizarre. They've literally just picked businesses at random and said you bear the brunt of this........Look we did something, but we also aren't taking the unpopular, yet actually potentially helpful, step of limiting holiday celebrations.

I agree that they should limit holiday celebrations like BC did, but don’t the restrictions on bars aim at New Years Eve more than anything?
