8 yrs old old was totally fine.

10 yrs old (who had covid in sept) was out for about 5 days...no energy, sleeping 16+ hours a day. no other complications.

Maybe lay off the drinking when you get home?

That's baffling. They are obviously OK with being vaccinated, so why not finish it and be able to do things that require it?

How did you get the 2nd dose for your 6 year old already?

Edit: Oh... now I looked at the username. You live in Florida. Must be nice!

My 10 year old was a little sore in the arm the night of the vaccination. She was a bit played out the next morning but fine by supper time.

My 13 and 16 year olds both said their arms were sore after their 1st shot and that was it. Their 2nd shots seemed to go smoothly.

Never, ever be envious of Florida. Ever.

My woo-peddling SIL is one of those idiots. She finally relented and got her first on the insistence of her mother, but now refuses to get the second one because the side effects from the first one took her out for a day and a half. Muffin, that's what an immune response is. If you were a real doctor and not some quack making potions in your kitchen, you'd know how this works.

Grandson, age 6, no symptoms.

Mom: how was that, K? You were brave.
K: that was easy.
M: good, you’ll get another in a few weeks.
K: wait, what?

I’m curious about all the curiosity about covid vaccine reactions. Don’t most people get annual flu shots? Are covid reactions all that worse?

Annual flu shots are like 30% or less of the population. I can't remember my last flu shot but it is easily 20+ years ago although I might have gotten one about 10 years ago when my kid was born.

My AZ one was. I felt like garbage for 3 days.

Have got flu shot for 20 years now. Never had anything like that.

That said Both Pfizer were a breeze

With the flu shot, I usually have a sore arm for a couple of days and that's it.

With the Pfizer COVID shot, the sore arm lasted about 4 or 5 days and I had a mild headache that started about 24 hours after the shot and lasted for about 3 days on the first shot and 1 day on the second.

Neither kid (11 and 9) had any issues other than the older one having a sore shoulder.

A lot of people don't. I got a flu shot for the first time this year and had no reaction. I also had very minor reactions to my covid shots (sore arm, felt tired but it was a busy time of year, so not sure if I can blame the shot for that).

Although I also had very minor symptoms with covid itself, before I was vaccinated.

Had to get a COVID test after some symptons developed. Thankfully it came back negative but my god she really jammed that q-tip up there. I've had it a few times now and this one felt like it was up the nose, around the corner and down the other side.

Not really a true complaint as I still prefer it to the throat swab, I just thought it was funny. I was late for my test appointment so maybe that was my punishment.

My son’s school is at Outbreak status (only one in Calgary). Tested Friday Afternoon with a rapid anti-gen test at home. Negative. 1st dose Friday, felt fine until Sunday where he developed symptoms. Monday morning tested at the AHS testing site, negative. Phew, what a roller coaster.

At least we have a pile of anti-Gen test from the school for the holidays.

Same. 3 kids, sore arms, otherwise nothin. The salt water injections are an easy shot.

It actually makes perfect sense to me.

People who hear a loud voice yelling in each ear telling them to two opposite things, that don't want to extend the mental energy required to even think about what either of them are saying and desperately want a solution that appeases everybody.

When they tell you they got 1 shot and are good, they have literally built a narrative up for themselves that they are the smartest, most centrist person who found a way to make everyone happy. When in reality they are just the most intellectually lazy person, not bothering to think about what either side is saying.
