Walmart is starting to roll out $20 antigen testing at certain Walmart pharmacies in Canada. So far most locations offering the test are in Ontario but there is one location in Calgary (Northland Store: 5005 Northland Dr NW).

You need to book an appointment in advance by calling in. Walk-ins are not accepted at this time.

There is also one location in Edmonton (South Common: 1203 Parsons Rd NW) and one in Leduc (5302 Discovery Way).

Update: Apparently they are not yet offering testing at Northland, even though it's one of the listed locations.

The biggest ass pain about that trip is the lack of a direct flight. Come on United, surely there are enough people traveling now to require at least one direct a day.

The double test (coming and going) kind of bugs me too, for fully vaxxed travelers. Although the US will accept the home tests (which are kind of a joke IMO).

It’s kind of like Costco, they are offering $16 Antigen tests out east but not here yet.

Also, I did find this spot for ordering rapid tests.

Finally going back home for first time in 2 years, later this month.
Have browsed through and am just confirming currently the most readily available / cheapest test that is accepted for returning to US is the $40 Shoppers Drug Mart rapid antigen test?
Or maybe Walmart, at certain locations?
TIA

Yeah Shoppers right now. But hopefully those $16 Costco tests become available in Calgary soon.

I was in the Northland Walmart on Saturday and they had a sign right as you walk in promoting them. I think they had even written on it "Get results as you wait in 20 minutes" or something like that.

Yes, the Shoppers $40 antigen test is the cheapest readily available test you'll find for mainland U.S. entry (anywhere but Hawaii which as special rules and does not accept antigen tests). Available at various Shoppers locations in Calgary (but not all).

The Northland Walmart is now offering $20 antigen tests (the only location so far), which theoretically should also be fine for mainland U.S. entry, although they're too new for real world reports.

Are there any official sites that have information on flying from Canada to US with mixed (AZ/Pfizer) vaccines? Every time I do a search on google, I just get articles and speculation but no actual official government info.

I would rely on Air Canada's guidance: https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...ryRequirements

At the moment, the mainland U.S. does not consider your vaccination status at all for entry (Hawaii has special rules). They just want to see a negative test result (can be antigen or PCR).

The official rules for U.S. entry by air can be found at:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...travelers.html

The U.S. has announced that 'sometime in early November' a person flying to the U.S. will also need to be fully vaccinated for entry (in addition to the test requirement above). A specific date has not been announced.

At that time, your vaccination status *will* matter to the U.S.

So far all we know is that it looks like the U.S. will be accepting all 4 of the vaccines that were approved in Canada, including AstraZeneca (which wasn't approved in the U.S.) and even Sinopharm & Sinovac (used primarily in South America, Asia, and the Middle East). source: NY Times https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/22/t...l-vaccine.html

But as of right now, there are no details one way or the other on whether they will also accept mixed vaccinations. It will be pretty big news when that becomes known.

Government stepping up with vaxx mandates for all flights and trains going into effect OCT 30TH!

Still a window where you can show a negative test ( till Nov 30th)

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/fed...date-1.6201528

but this should drive vaxx rates up some more

I highly doubt the unvaxxed idiot morons trust experimental flying vehicles, they haven't been around long enough.

My step-daughter is going to miss her Christmas with us because her mother is an anti-vaxxer. She is 13 and won't be able to fly to us. She lives in Ontario so another mode of transportation isn't really feasible to get her here and back during break. I wish they could make their own choice at that age.

I don't know the situation, but if your step-daughter wants to get her shot and her mother won't allow it, she does potentially have the ability in Ontario to get it without her mother interfering.

https://covid-19.ontario.ca/covid-19-vaccines-youth

Quote:
If a youth does not have an Ontario health card
Youth (and their families) can still get the vaccine without an Ontario health card. You need to:

- speak to your school, medical provider or faith leader about providing a letter confirming the youth’s:
-- name
-- date of birth
-- address

- contact your local public health unit to get a unique COVID ID (this is a number that you can use to book your appointment)
- call the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900 to book an appointment

Providing informed consent
Anyone getting the COVID-19 vaccine, including youth, must provide informed consent. Informed consent means that you understand:
- what the vaccine involves (for example, how it is given and what possible side effects there may be)
- why it is recommended
- the risks and benefits of getting or not getting it

If you are a youth interested in getting the COVID-19 vaccine, you may want to talk to a parent, guardian or adult that you trust before getting the vaccine.

If an individual is unable to provide informed consent to receive the vaccine (for example, for medical reasons), they will need consent from someone who can make a decision on their behalf, such as a parent or legal guardian.

Anyone else return from abroad, be cleared through customs with no requirement to quarantine and getting bombarded by ArriveCan for quarantine reports? I am getting emails, app notifications and 4-5 robocalls a day asking me to complete my quarantine questionaire. This is so f'ng annoying.

The info sheet they gave me at customs says I don't have to report on the App but geez this is excessive.

messaging is in confusing- but AFAIK the reminders are all for the lowest common denominator (unvaxxed)

I can’t find any info on what happens if you fly to the US and when you get your test to return home you test positive? Is it an automatic 2 weeks in the US or is it until you test Negative regardless of how long that takes?

You can fly into canada with record of recovery from Covid. I use my positive test from August 20th. I believe its accepted between 14-90 days.
