I'm actually just looking to release Radulov so he is off the books next year. How much cap do I need to release him now?

In the rules, his salary is 2.5mil for 2 years. You need 2.5 mil to buy him out.
If a player is released (Bought out) before his contract has ended, the team releasing him is required to pay a portion of the player’s salary. Any player bought out by his team will re-enter the UFA market for all teams to bid on. The team must pay a buyout based on the value of the contract per year – and the number of years left:
· 1 million/year and under–30%
· 2 million/year and under–40%
· 3 million/year and under–50%
· 4 million/year and under–60%
· 6 million/year and under–70%
· 8 million/year and under–80%
· Over 8 million/year–85%
· All numbers are rounded up to the nearest $100k*
The team must pay the above percentage multiplied by the number of years remaining on the contract. For instance a player signed to a 3 year, 8 million/year contract would have the following buyout (80%*8.0*3 years=19.2 million).
The entire amount is applied to the cap in the season that the player is bought out. All buy-outs are counted against the CPHL salary cap.
