How much do we all trust kylington, valimaki, and zagidulin?
This leaves us with 975k in cap room, do could tote Mackey, Rinaldo, or yelesin as scratches in the press box.
Oh and pelletier and mangiapane would be swapped lines lol

I'm kind of shocked Gaudreau wasn't moved at the draft. The top 6 hasn't shown it's good enough to win in the playoffs so I expected some change. Better goaltending will help but not sure that's going to be enough.

I wonder how much it would cost to move Ryan and Lucic to Columbus (I mean, Lucic has to waive, but for the sake of argument, what does it cost).
That's realistically the only way Calgary is going in on Hall now. Moving Hanifin weakens the D too much. You already have Valimaki and Kylington on the bottom pairing to start, and Mackey and Yelesin have 2 games between them (all on Yelesin). Petrovic I am unsure of - was a fantastic prospect that never developed.
Yeah, you can get rid of Gaudreau's contract to Columbus pretty easily, but keeping him and acquiring Hall is the move this team should try to make to compete this upcoming season - bona fide contenders if that's the case.
I am curious to see which organization Hall chooses to play for. Columbus is kind of an attractive place - recent playoff success, young up and coming core, well coached and, for the most part, well managed... but not a sexy team.
Calgary can be THAT sexy team with Hall coming in while retaining Gaudreau. A damn sexy team.

I have a hunch the forwards are in for a change through trade. Looking at it now the lineup just doesn’t make a lot of sense when you start to slot players in. And maybe (I hope) Hall is a part of that.

Yeah I do think there will be a change up front.
I just doubt it's Hall. Even if the Flames had a lot of cap, I would still doubt it's Hall just because of the number of teams interested.
But it does seem reasonably probable that the Flames will acquire a forward in some form.

I wonder what Stecher would cost? 2m or under I'd be all over that

If they sign Stecher they'll be over the cap (including Mangiapane at about $3 million). Stecher is probably looking at roughly $2-3 million I'm guessing.

What is with us going after consecutive rival players.
There are a lot of teams to pick players off of.
I don't think the answers are in edmonton and vancouver.

Flames scouts only get Sportsnet west and pacific. Center ice is too expensive.

There are a few players I wouldn't mind taking
Vancouver's MVP was a nice start

Kylington has way more upside than Stetcher, and isn't that far off in terms of current ability. I think that the defense core is set, as is goal, and any movement from now til when the puck drops will be in the forward side.

Wow, another Canuck, this is like with all the ex-Oilers last year.
Vancouver never gave Stetcher a qualifying offer on his $2,325,000 salary last season.

I would rather roll with Kylington than Stetcher personally. Kylington absolutely needs playing time, however. If the Flames aren't going to give him that, they should really move him.

That was one of those cases where they couldn't afford to go to arbitration. Stecher would have been worth his QO

I think the only way we go after a dman like Stetcher is if we plan on trading a guy like Hanifin and elevating Valimaki right away.
That or we don’t have any interest in developing Kylington any further.
