Trump is a nationalist, plain and simple. Being neighbours with a nationalist never has a positive outcome.
I really don't see Biden starting trade wars or using tariffs for political gain the way Trump did. He might be indifferent to Canada at the most, but I doubt that he is going to push us around just to try an impress people like Trump did.

America has been isolating for a while, Trump just accelerated the path America was already on. He has also, very bluntly, called into question many of America's current quandaries.
Through a combination of hubris, ignorance, instinct, and ego, he pointed at the reality and demanded to know why it was being allowed to continue. Why was America still fighting wars in the Middle East and elsewhere? Why wasn’t it partnering with Russia against Islamist jihadists? Why was China allowed to abuse the rules of the game? Why were American workers losing their jobs to poorer countries? And why were so-called allies in Europe allowed to place high tariffs on American produce while American workers paid for their defense? Were these countries even allies at all?
One doesn’t have to like Trump or believe he has been a successful president to acknowledge that each of his challenges contains a grain of truth: American leaders were naive to allow China such an easy pass into the World Trade Organization; NAFTA did help hollow out American manufacturing; Europe was allowed to free-ride on American largesse; and the U.S. has become too tied up in military commitments. More than that, though, he was correct on the most fundamental point of all: the direct link between America’s economic strength at home and its power and stature abroad.

I don't know what Canadian with a lick of sense in them could believe that Trump means good things for Canada.
Agreed, This is just a stupid Alberta oil thing, it's a deflection, keystone really is just a way for the USA to rip us off and own our oil at a cheap price, it's our own leadership that's bad for Alberta as we should have pipelines both east & west to control our oil.

It all depends upon the criteria - if you base it purely on his performance as a player - it is a no brainier, his number should be officially retired.
However, if you add other criteria and it includes things like contribution to the game, the community and the perception of the Flames organisation, I don't see how he could have his jersey retired.
The man has his demons, no doubt about that and that should also be considered, but on balance - I don't see him ever having his jersey retired. It is sad because on the ice, he was probably the most exciting and unpredictable player in our history.
Do you really think half the people that voted for Trump are racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it? God forbid someone want lower taxes.
Politics and social media has drove everyone insane.
I really think that "half" is understating things.

"He"? I was referring to the "deplorables" that voted for Trump. Some people just want lower taxes.... it's really that simple.
The problem is, that isn’t simple. “Lower my taxes!” Isn’t simple. It comes with a never ending web of repercussions elsewhere. This is why we have people make decisions on it who actually study and work in it.
Thinking it’s “that simple” is how you end up with this bull####.

Don’t forget when he straight up said he was going to militarize our border. Purely as a political stunt.
So because he has far right political views he shouldn't have his number raised? That not only seems petty given his legacy as a Flame but it is discriminatory as well. I totally disagree with his political views but do you think he is going to talk politics during his speech? I don't see that.

What good things would Canada receive if Biden was in office?
What ‘good things’ has Canada received with Trump in office the past 4 years? It boggles the mind anyone can still push a narrative that Trump is better than Biden or Biden would be as bad for a foreign ally as trump has been. The guy has taken the biggest dump on political decorum, has pushed a message of ‘America First’ while bullying Allies and trumpeting his good relationships with know dictators... all while he actually hurts the very people who voted him in... yet still there are scenarios that have this melting hippo winning a second term..?? Is this real life? Trump moving on from being president would be the single greatest thing that could happen for the WORLD let alone Canada. I hope to see him jet-setting off to his BFF in Russia... how sad will that be?
