House explosion in Douglas Glen
A little bit surprised there isn't a thread on this already, but around 4:20am a house exploded. No word on casualties yet, bit hopefully no one was injured or worse.

Well that’s weird. You wouldn’t expect Jason Bourne to be fighting the CIA in S.E. Calgary.

Sometimes I wonder if we have any reporters left, 20 years ago we would at least have a clue on what happened or if anyone was hurt or not, lately all we get is crickets from our police force and mayors office.

So still no word on any injuries or a possible cause, but a neighbour said the owner rents the place out and goes to Thailand for the winter. There was a renter living there but it didn't look like he had been around for a week or two. Renter is still unaccounted for

I'm no expert but natural gas explosions seem to be confined to the house that blew up, this one caused surrounding houses to catch on fire, maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject can chime in!

Well if the house blew up flaming parts of the house would have landed on other houses regardless of what blew it up.

yes... but if a house blows up it doesn't just blow 'up', it also blows 'out'... flaming chunks of house lodging into the sides of neighouring houses.
also - the heat from a structure fire could cause stuff close by to combust. i don't know how close the houses are together in that neighbourhood, but i know i'm about 12' from my neighbour's place. if either of our houses were ever on fire there is a real risk of the fire spreading just due to proximity.
