The reason why.
Fleury is highly rated Goaltending is killing me. Its probably an overpay and bites me hard in the long term, but I still have a win now and I needed to increase my goalie rating.
MY problem now is way too many free agents coming before the start of next year.

Rookie mistake. Sim goalie ratings seem to mean nothing IMO.
Usually the cup winner is playing his third string because he got hot and can't lose.

I tend to have a differing viewpoint on goalies than most, so I think this trade is OK for Captain.
I think good goalies make a difference. They did on my past teams, and I still think they do. Which is why I'm not afraid to pay for them.

Fair enough. When I've won it's because my backup outplayed my starter. I feel like every year I look at the top two teams and laugh when I see their goalies, but I also have a terrible memory so I could be out to lunch.

Big price to pay but OEL is 28 years old on year 1 of his RFA contract. We had to add a D after moving EK and like OEL a little more long term. Still in talks with a couple teams about another shakeup although the team has played well the last 2 games.

St Louis sends Holden and Backstrom to Toronto for Staal and Krug and a 4th round pick in 2021.
Reasons. The dreaded shakeup.
Backstrom is better then Staal. But Krug is a bit younger and will provide way more offense on the back end for us. The 4th round pick is another asset. Trade is Cheese neutral.
