What happened with Yashin Ehliz? Is he still Flames property?

Two do-or-die relegation playoffs today. Winner gets to play next year.

GB vs France right now
Austria vs Italy at noon

France up 2-0 midway through the 2nd, looks like the end for GB

Make that 3-0. Two goals in 6 seconds.

No, his contract was mutually terminated a month into the season and he returned to Germany.

GB came back to tie it ... and just won it in OT. 4-3 final, GB will be back next year.

Wow, that's a great story for the Brits

Latvia also came very close to stealing a point from Sweden. Rasmussen scored the 5-4 winning goal 36 seconds before the buzzer. That's I think the third final minute winning goal in this tournament. Slovakia lost like that to both Canada and Sweden. (Which tanked Slovakias tournament. If they could have held on in at least one of those, they'd still have a decent chance to make the playoff rounds.)

Latvia would have stolen a point, but had to try to win by taking the goalie out in the final minute, and lost bc of it. Sweden got lucky and now have a chance to win the group by beating Russia tomorrow.

can't even beat Italy. Sigh. Well deserved relegation if they lose this.

Was Monahan not invited to play for Team Canada or did he reject going to the tournament?

GB's lack of finish nearly cost them their position in the top group but they managed to pull it out of the bag and will be back again next year :-)

I know a lot of people hate this minnows versus the super powers and the high scoring one sided results but for anyone that watched the GB celebrations when they won, tell me they don't deserve to experience this tournament any more than the Canada's or the Russians. They earned it the hard way.

I tried to watch all their games. Such pride and passion by the fans, team and coaches. Very happy for GB.

There were similar celebrations last year when they won the tournament to go up.

This is what makes the world championship great, every country is trying to improve.

This is the first time since 2006 that both promoted teams stay up. And the best part is both teams got to hear their anthem played today.

This is exactly how the Panamanians were during the World Cup last year.
