It is because they used a rather long finish on the collar (NHL shield positioning, collar shape, etc.) and the crest needs to be a certain distance away from that to not affect movement. It does look odd and I wish the collars were more compact to make them not look like kids pyjamas. The most annoying thing about the collar is that the laces are the jersey equivalent of stick-on exhaust ports on a car hood.

Retro whites are perfect. The only issue with them is you can't wear them in the sea of red

Anyone notice the sizes are a bit weird? I've always bought a large but went today and tried them on and a small seemed to fit best. I think it's due to the collar but wondering what guys that bought them found.
They also had limites sizes in everything and no Monahan, Gaudreau, or Giordano at all.

The part that I'm interested to see close up is the C. Are they sewn on like the authentic player jerseys, or are they glued on patches? Biggest reason why I preferred buying authentic is for this reason. As well as the fact that it seems the double stitched the white layer and created a new material for the black C. Is that true with the ones for sale?

Looking forward to seeing them on the ice tonight. I will try to ignore the flag patches and I will fail. If they could have just put the secondary roundel crest there instead... sigh...

$200 for an authentic is cheaper than the Reebok, but what baffles me is that they customized the on-ice authentics with the single layered twill numbers...pay the extra $50 to get them sewn properly.

I've noticed the Flames wore the old socks in Penticton and have been practicing with the old socks as well. Is this a blunder by EA? They have been known to mess up the uniforms in the past.
It's also possible that the new socks haven't arrived yet, or they're waiting to unveil them at the home opener.

I noticed that too. I'm wondering if they just have a big stock of the old ones or something they are working through.
It just makes too much sense for the Flames to match the sleeves of the jersey with the socks. They look much better in EA. Maybe Ken King changed his mind last minute.

We have determined that we are no longer going to pursue new socks.
Without new socks there will be consequences everyone will have to deal with. Negotiations are over. They’ll play out the string here with the existing sock supply for as long as they can.

Sounds like you just contradicted your own statement.

Could be the flames are going cheap, use the old socks until camp is over so they don't need to order a ton of new ones for the stockton players who will end up using the old set anyways.

Is that Monahan fighting? Lol
That's an even bigger EA fail.

After seeing our numbers on television a few times now, they remind me of how they've looked in EA for years.
I don't like that.

I actually prefer the retro white. The retro red looks too much like jangly lumberjack pajamas to me.

Scorp, a few questions for you:
(1) So the $199 new jerseys have the fight straps (so are they the "on-ice" version)?
(2) The retro 3rd you picked up is $119 all-in at FanAttic (including the Brodie cresting)?
Thinking of picking up a Tkachuk (since #68 doesn't look like coming), but may wait for the pre-christmas sale to get the new jersey.

I can't attest to seeing any fight straps. The retro third was that price, yes, although I'm not sure what inventory they'll have at this point.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Comix zone posted pics of the new jersey (player crested) Fight strap is there. Mine arrives today, is a blank home jersey ($199) and I will confirm if fight strap is there too
Nevermind: N-E-B confirmed it
