In their search for toughness, I think they're going to be a slow team. Sure they have guys with speed in their lineup. But you look at the other teams out there and they're all going to speed.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Puljujarvi, from what I have heard he has been having trouble adjusting. Still haven't seen him play but I Remember around the draft hearing he will need some time. Hopefully the Oilers screw this one up and ram him into the nhl. I wonder if we see a new coach soon, McLellan has got to be getting up there for games coached by Oilers standard.

Yeah, I was shocked at this statement too. If the Oilers are disappointing anyone the blame lays with that person's expectations.

The Oilers suck out loud and unless Talbot maintains 'God Mode' all season long and pucks bounce in off of Lucic's ass the Tire Fire will be drafting Top 3 again.

They havent improved, they've just polished the brass on the Titanic.

I have to admit that at times the Oilers hype machine sucks me in and tricks me. Mark Spector was on with Rob Kerr the other day and damn near had me convinced that this was a playoff team.

They are definitely bigger (Lucic, Maroon, Nurse, Kassian) but are they better? I am worried that they might be this year?

I have to remind myself that we've gone through this same song and dance every single year for a decade. I just can't help but think that the Oilers will eventually have to get better in spite of themselves.

May have been posted before, but I thought this was a nice, heartwarming story about the Oilers' new mascot.

In a stroke of genius, the Oilers have produced a mascot that perfectly epitomizes both the Edmonton Oilers and its fans; a mascot with a face only a mother could love, representing a team only sadistic lunatics would continuously support. Hunter the Canadian Lynx is ugly and he knows it. He knows people will laugh at his ugliness but he still raises his paws in the air with a smile, posing on a hockey stick with every ounce of his surprisingly slim body. We Oilers fans will mock ourselves for the almost laughable ugliness year after year, but still cheer on the team with renewed optimism and relentless enthusiasm time after time, when we know everyone else is laughing at us, when experience has taught us we should really know better.

Beautifully ugly, endearingly terrifying, perfectly awkward-- Hunter the Canadian Lynx is an oxymoron that encapsulates the paradoxical experience of being an Edmonton Oilers fan. It's a kind of love others just don't understand, and that's what makes it special. When I see Hunter at an event or game, I will approach him and give him a hug while praying he does not eat my soul, bravely embracing this creature I have an irrational love for.

I'd love to know how this seemed like a good idea to anyone. I mean, I know the Edmonton Oilers' brand at this point is basically "Making small children cry uncontrollably" but this seems a little too on the nose. Oiler fans have already christened the god-forsaken beast "Meth Cat", and I don't need to tell you that it takes a lot to disappoint those people.
