The thing that I find funniest is that not only do the off-ice-officials not make a lot, its basically passionate volunteer work, but holy crap...the equipment they have!

My cousin is an off ice official for The Jets and he has a regular job, just doing the OIO job for fun. Perhaps they get paid an hourly rate now, but it isn’t much. He certainly isn’t traveling.

I'm quasi-related to one of the Jets off ice officials, as well. He had wanted to be an on ice official when he was younger but never made the cut, unfortunately.

Pretty neat to read the entire ruling. I enjoy the fact they deemed Griegs actions “utterly irrelevant” to Riley’s play. That’s pretty much the exact ruling I wanted to hear.
