I would kill to see the replacements!
I've seen wilco 5-6 times, and they've been excellent every time. Definitely my favorite "big" band I've seen live.
This is probably the greatest live act I've ever seen. So much energy, great showmanship, a bassists that will slay your face off is so wicked live. Soulfull keyboards...
Great show.

I've seen Flaming Lips, and they are extremely hit or miss. 1 show was amazing. The other 2 were two of the worst live performances I've ever seen. During one set Wayne Coyne (the lead singer) spent 10 minutes talking about his hands. The guy was so high, I don't think he got through his set.
.
Haha, I'm guessing you were at Sasquatch a couple years ago too? That show was one of the worst I have ever seen.
I've seen them 4 times, two were fantastic and a ton of fun. Two were awful and a total chore to get through.
That Korn concert in 2000 still stays in my mind as one of the best concerts I have ever gone to. I also agree with Jay Z on that list I am not a big fan but I left his concert extremely impressed
Some things are just better left unread. This list is one of them. I'm actually upset right now. Rolling Stone hasn't been relevant since the early 90's and this list is a demonstration as to why.
Sorry for being a downer, but this is just so bad.

That's the one.
They decided to play through Soft-Bulletin in its entirety and give their stoney recollections about how they wrote each song and how great they were for doing so. Probably a pretty interesting show for hard core fans, but totally inappropriate for a mixed festival crowd.
I'd say the guy spent at least half the time talking with some boughts lasting 10+ minutes. I can't tell if all the talk about his "hands" was suppossed to be some metaphor, or maybe he was talking about the things he creates, or maybe he was talking about his actual hands. Regardless, it was weird.
This all occurred right before sunset too. So everyone had sat through many hours of sun.
These guys were also awful at the Pemberton Music Festival. They did similar things. They would then proceed to randomly spray the crowd with all sorts of random confetti. That might make sense in an upbeat show, and I know it's their trademark. But throwing confetti around when you are building a mellow sit down mood is just strange.
Right now I would say the best live act in the world is "The National".
Likely the closest place to see them is in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre September 19th or 20th. I am holding out in hopes that they will come closer but it isn't looking good. How can you beat The National live at that venue for $50. HARD TO FIND "They can all just kiss off into the air.

the National is the 2nd worst band in the world, right behind Sigur Ros.
National = gargle gargle thump thump gargle gargle thump thump
Prince is one of those artists who sound a million times better live than on an album because of the absolute spontaneous creativity and musical genius that comes across when he plays live. His albums always sound overproduced to the point of blandness.
Skip to 4:40 for a great solo

I guess, if you hate some guy mumbling incoherently about what he perceives as deep thoughts, but which are fact, drivel, and a drum line that is thump thump - thump thump, repeat, in every song and nothing else really going on musically, then call me crazy.
