I can’t see this helping the Jays case to play in Toronto

While I don't know what the league protocol is for sitting if you're vaccinated, I hope they don't have to sit the Jays' guys (assuming they're all vaccinated).
With reference to some people's choice not to get vaccinated, at first it bothered me, but then I can understand why. The vaccine rollouts have been handled terribly, and side effects have come out, when governments have said everything was fine with them. It's not the thread for this but I can understand people's individual anxieties about getting it after all this has been out. Personally I'm Pfizer x 2, so I'm taking the chance but some people just want to see more data and aren't necessarily antivax.

So how much data do they need to see exactly?
Are they going to wait another month? 6 months? 6 years?
What's sufficient "data"?

If the government isn't going to let the Jays play in Canada, how are they going to have a hockey season without keeping an all Canadian division again?

I don't have an answer, but for people trying to conceive or other medical conditions, and such, I can understand the reluctance. It just hasn't been a great rollout for everyone, and the general population who feels their priority is to get back to what life was like before (in my case), they take it. For others who say, I want to wait it out because of my medical condition or trepidation for conceiving and not wanting to take something developed so quickly, I can certainly now understand their position. There's simply no right answer - it depends on what each individual's priorities are.

You are right that this isn’t the right thread for this but if people aren’t taking out of legit health concerns that’s one thing. But if they aren’t because of misinformation or ignorance I have no time for it
The vaccines were legitimately developed. Trust science

Furthermore if you are going to make that choice then don’t go the all star game

Sounds like Yankees / Red Sox game is a go for tonight (no PPD yet), so that's promising that it isn't too bad. Really hope there is no all star game fallout

While there is a trust in science, it hasn't been infallible. Women missing their periods (albeit a small portion), or other medical conditions a small percentage of the population may have as an adverse risk, plus nobody knows the longer term downsides with the accelerated development. I've made the choice because I trust the right thing was done, but I admittedly don't know if there are downsides long term.

What an awesome guy.
@Brandon_N_Wile:
"Ohtani received $150,000 for participating in the Derby, but he distributed that to around 30 Angels support staffers to thank them for their work. Ohtani distributed checks on Friday to trainers, clubhouse workers and media relations staffers."
Another reason to love Ohtani.

Uh oh. Jacob deGrom has experienced a tight right forearm for the past week-plus. He is being evaluated and will not pitch Monday.

The Nationals’ game against the Padres tonight came to an abrupt halt after a shooting took place outside Nationals Park following the top of the sixth inning.
Moments after Kyle Finnegan struck out Wil Myers to end the half-inning around 9:30 p.m., with the Padres leading 8-4, a series of five or six gunshots could be heard emanating from behind the third base stands. Within a minute or so, a group of fans could be seen racing along the main concourse toward the center field exits, and a member of the umpiring crew cleared the field.
After an initial period of chaos that saw some fans try to escape onto the field and others run to take cover wherever possible, public address announcer Jerome Hruska informed fans the incident had taken place outside the stadium and asked everyone to remain inside the park for the time being.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. in tears coming off the field with a shoulder injury. Hope it’s a matter of just popping it back in or something. Love watching that kid play.

Man, not your conventional Tampa trade, but a good one. The Jays were apparently (unnecessarily) in the loop.

Geez nice comebacks from Boston again against a very good Yankee bullpen. Team certainly knows what to do late in games.
