I was a huge fan of Important Things with Demetri Martin and love his sense of humour, however was disappointed in his previous standup special Live *at the Time and sort of forgot about him.

The Overthinker was a great improvement. He still has great jokes and mixed things up enough to keep me interested.

There is a twitter campaign to bring back his Fromage music video reviews. #BringBackFromage

Now, Ed the Sock, alongside creator Steven Kerzner, hopes to restore and revitalize the energy of MuchMusic through their own web-based platform: the FU Network, which will feature a plethora of brand new shows like Hey Ladies, Shooting the ####, and other comedic programs. Old school Ed the Sock fans will be excited to hear that one of his most popular showcases, Fromage, will be returning as Fromage: The Cheesy History of Music Videos, a weekly show that will comically cover music videos from the 1950s to modern times.

I just finished the new Louis CK standup special, which is available for download on his website.

I thought it was really funny, better than his last, pre-scandal special. He definitely touches on the scandal a number of times, and then for long addresses it near the end of the show.

I watched it last night too, yeah it's definitely better than his last couple sets pre-incident. I was surprised how much material from his leaked routine last year that he ended up keeping..I guess the leak didn't cost him a year's worth of material after all.

I actually liked his delivery better from his leaked set on a lot of them, he sounded much more relaxed and they were getting bigger laughs during his leaked set too. Still a good special.

I had tickets for Dara O'Briain at MRU before things went south and the two gigs were postponed. Just got an email that both gigs have been combined into one gig in MacEwan Hall in October. I believe I've been there for a couple of concerts back in the day but isn't it just a flat floor setup with no actual seating? I'm picturing that this is just gonna look like a community town hall meeting, or am I thinking of a different place? Is there a different setup for comedy gigs?

Both Louis CK and Bull Burr have done shows at Mac Hall. I didn't make it to either, but I'd imagine if stars have performed there it likely transforms nicely enough.

I was at Burr's Mac Hall show. It was fine. Would have been nice to have some elevated seating though. I'm sure people at the back had terrible views.

Saw David Cross there and that is pretty accurate. Rows of metal chairs set up. They might have been padded but I wouldn't have wanted to sit all night in them. Worked fine.

I remember Bill half-joking about how unimpressed he was with the venue.

Hannibal Buress put out his new special on YouTube earlier this month:

No you're about right, Seeing Bill Burr there was pretty terrible. Like a ####tier high school gym with a concrete stage at the front, and the doors to the hallway and bathroom opening and closing were so loud and obnoxious.

But it's comedy, if anything, how crappy the venue was made the whole experiance even better. Especially hearing Bill joke about it after (Then make fun of Calgarians for how much we drank at the damn thing)

I have seen Jimmy Carr and Anthony Jeselnik there. It's fine as long as you get seats that are quite close to the front.

A couple years ago, I was in LA and went to The Comedy Store. For $20 and a couple drinks I got to see Marc Maron, Brad Williams, Bobby Lee, and a whole slew of hilarious comedians I never heard of. Probably the best value for dollar in entertainment I've ever spent.

Anyway, one guy that stood out for me was Fahim Anwar. Basically, he was an aerospace engineer for Boeing and decided to do stand-up instead. I don't get the sense he's huge, but I'm not super dialed in to stand-up.

He recently put on his stand-up special for free on YouTube (was on Prime for a while):
