Waiver Wire Jan 30 (Update: Pens claim Boychuk, Tor claims McLaren)
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger Y. Danis cleared Waivers. Carolina places Boychuk, SJ places McLaren, and NJ places Janssen on Waivers.
If the Flames weren't so overloaded with forwards I would take a look at Boychuk. Former 14th overall pick and one of the AHL scoring leaders

Already rumors floating around that the Isles were high on Boychuk in his draft year so they will likely put a claim on him...

I thought priority went by standings. Flames are near the bottom right now.

Dobber @DobberHockey
Zach Boychuk on waivers per TSN. How far has he fallen? A fresh start, could surprise. Still leads AHL club w 32 points. He's only 23

well on a full sesason, the previous year's standings are used to determine waiver priority until November 1st.
Not sure when they stop using last year's standings in this shortened season, but I believe at this point they still are using last year's standings.

Well... the Flames have played the least games in the league. We'll be 2 to 3 gp behind everyone in the NW by tomorrow.
Anyways, I'd take a shot at Boychuk. We're at 48 contracts atm, right?

He was awesome in Lethbridge back in the day... Might be one of those guys that just can't make the jump to the NHL... He is still young though...

But he would have to be kept in the NHL for the season if he is picked up.
