My question is, why would a Borg ship need gravity? It seems like it would be more efficient to float around, rather than walk. Then they would have had to limit assimilation to bipeds.

Disappointed with the show, and that's probably being charitable. Picard is continuing the tradition of the TNG movies of making characters nothing like they were on TNG.

Data's death haunting him for 20 years, the organization he dedicated his entire life to abandoning it's principles, the deaths of hundreds of millions of Romulans he had promised to help, PTSD from his experience with the Borg, all no big deal, right? Well, lets replicate some tea and go for a jam session with the head of stellar cartography!

This is why I like this show. Next Generation was the peak of the federation then through DS9 and the movies you had an empire in decline. So now we are 20 years later watching that decline continue through an old man who as some kind of illness clinging to making up for what he sees as his failures.
It isn’t changing Picard, it’s the natural extension of his character.

I liked this episode, I thought it was well directed and paced, and we finally got somewhere and hit some major much needed plot points.
and yeah they got rid of the creepy brother sister porn feel.
I did think it was weird, when Raffi convinced her friend to give the diplomatic credentials and then was told not to call her again and was completely crushed and Jean Luc in the awkward weird old guy moment of the year gives her a standing ovation, it was just a really weird feel to me and mad it seem like old JL is a little too focused on himself.
JL coming to the realization that the Borg drones were victims was a long time coming and actually a really nice piece of resolution.

I don't think she was crushed, so much as high and drunk. If someone I considered an actual friend of mine made a call to me and essentially held me hostage for my help I could see myself being upset enough to tell them to not call anymore. Hell, actually, I have done this very thing.

Maybe a return to episodic Star Trek?

"The market determines which literary forms predominate," Chabon explains. "That has always been true, and not just on TV. When big-circulation magazines paid good money for short stories, our best writers revolutionized the form. In Germany, magazines wanted novellas; Thomas Man wrote some of the best ever. Short answer: when there is perceived demand for episodic TV, episodic Trek will return, though likely not in quite the same way."

It would look something like this...
Although Comic Book Guy in a TNG Uniform would probably look exactly like Frakes in a TNG Uniform at this point.
I'm looking forward to seeing the next episode, I thought that last one was good after a couple of snoozers, but Frakes is back!
Best character in all of Star Trek. Realistically this is the embodiment of someone who should not be a Starfleet officer He fails at almost everything and often does so spectacularly while bedding everything in sight and never letting a drink go unfinished.
I wonder how hammered Frakes is going to be? Its going to be brilliant!

More an episode to catch up on what Riker and Troi have been doing with their lives than one to advance the overall story line. Which IMO is good, exploring Picard's current relationship with some of his oldest friends was great.
Also interesting that the Commodore mind melded with the doctor to turn her over to the anti-synthetic side.

I liked that episode.
Soji trying to come to terms with who she is, still unsure about trusting anyone or any. thing.
I don’t think we’ve seen the last of the Riker/Troi family.
The doctor appears to be painfully regretting her “choice” to betray Picard. Did she attempt to kill herself, and the EMH saved her? If she recovers does she start transmitting her location again?

Riker has taken on the total hobo look. Troi is still hot
A pretty good episode overall.
I'm thinking there's a misdirection happening

Ya know...I watched this episode of Picard and on TV right afterwards was The Inner Light.
And of course what the hell, I'll watch it.
Now I know thats not fair, that episode was amazing, far and away one of the best.
But it was just so, so much better than Picard.
Here I am, basically forcing myself to watch Picard in order to stay up to date in the vain hope that its eventually leading somewhere interesting and then to have it contrasted by that TNG episode...I just could help but wonder.
"WTF am I doing here?"

It would be nice if we didn’t have the usual suspects coming in every week tell us how much they hate the show. Find shows you like.
I started getting bored of Netflix, so I stopped subscribing. I didn’t keep trying to find stuff I liked and moaning in the Netflix thread about it.
Yeah, I understand, there are off-weeks, if you find every single episode makes you unhappy, look at other shows.
Sorry, the constant negativity can be draining.

I for one have enjoyed it thus far. It's not perfect, but what show or movie is.

Shows like Picard and any other reboot, or sequel series to a beloved original is never going to win, because of the high expectations and nostalgia.
I haven't minded the series, but I won't say its a great piece of TV, its plagued by writing inconsistancies, too many story lines jammed into most episodes, and some poorly thought out characters like Space Ninja's.
I did enjoy last nights episode. One thing that this series is striving to do I think is story line resolution of old characters. 7 of 9, Hugh, Riker and Troi. Its a bit of fan service, but we knew it was coming.
In terms of Riker and Troi I 90% feel like that's it, they are shown as going through tragedy, and coming out ok, I would almost think that this was a good bye to the characters there's nothing more.
The only thing that stands out is that Riker is on Active Reserve. Maybe Star Fleet demands he comes back to hunt down the renegade Picard. Riker in a rage eats the Chief of Star Fleet security and crashes the Titan into the sun.

Couple thoughts about AI in Picard.
Think there are any links to the rogue AI in Discovery?
Also they don't seem too concerned about hologram AI, even though we have seen them gain sentience and expand past their original programming in TNG, DS9, and Voyager. Why aren't they banned in the Federation like the synthetics?
