This week Bryson basically said "I'm probably not hitting these fairways with my drives, so I can either play safe shorter shots off the tee (standard operating procedure by most golfers) or just drive it 320 on most holes, know I'll be in the rough, but 80-100 yards further than my compotetion".
Love his unconventional approach to golf, especially the whole "yeah, I'm really good as it stands but I'm coming back 30 lbs heavier next season and will try a whole new approach".
Gotta respect a guy who can play top 10 and says "nah, not good enough, I want to be the best and I'll take steps back to take steps forward towards being the best". I'm really coming around on him.
Kind of neat to see both him and Rory go through a major body change in a sport where body shape and training were historically seen as an afterthought to shot making skill.
Rory was slower to adapt to his new body, but that's two elite golfers that probably have a lot of young guys saying "I need to be in peak physical form".
I would imagine Golf will eventually get to a point where it's no different than basketball or any other elite sport, where you have a slim to none chance of making it if you don't get to a certain physical level for power and stamina.
I may be alone but I'd really like the next evolution of golf to be time. I truly hope they look at the sport and decide that your ability to choose club, scout your shot and make it happen in a time frame that isn't comfortable to the current procedure comes into play, and that will play even more into the athletic ability of the golfer.

I've been pining for baseball to implement this as well. Don't let a pitcher dictate game speed, set the game speed and the pitcher performs within that, and the best rise to the top.
Yeah this is great. Fox did a horrible job the last couple years in my opinion. They don't belong in the golf business. They need to stick with racing and baseball. Even their football broadcasts are pretty poor. I hate watching Fox NFL.
I'm taking Matsuyama to win the US Open this weekend.
Jesus man. The Fox crew and the NBC Crew are almost the same, especially after they punted Norman after the 2015 US Open.

I feel horrible for Delaet. He'll probably lose his card this year and it'll 100% be because of major missed time due to injury. I guess no different than any other major sport.

I don't think he will lose his card if he can put up 9 birds, don't care that the course is 'easy' or the field is 'weak'. 9 birds is 9 birds. That's huge.
He has 20ish events to get 260 FedEx cup points. That's very doable if he putts like he did today.

Too bad for Hughes, he's been money on the last three holes all week, then today when the tournament is his he has a mini blow up (relative to how he'd been playing) and loses.
The guy is seriously starting to look like a potential top 20 PGA golfer these days.
